Croquis is now subscription only

All of Croquis Cafe is now subscription only, even the videos on Vimeo. It was obvious that this was going to happen eventually as it had become necessary to enter a free password.  The cost is $36 a year which isn’t a lot but I have become a little disappointed by some of the recent sets especially the lighting which seems a little erratic. What do others think, will you donate?

You’re right David, yesterday I saw that it required the password, as you say, yes it was likely, for a long time it was free. I had recently read, above that it was already paid for teachers I did not understand if a monthly subscription is also possible, 3 € only for the single month, that is, subscribe the month that interests you, from time to time, every February and possibly the other months that interest. personally I would therefore have liked February and then I don’t know, possibly in moments. often it was a way to draw because otherwise I could not decide what to draw and it is because I would like to learn to draw the figure and then I was looking for poses in photos (personally difficult to answer also because personally I still prefer photos to videos, so in recent years I used for references wetcavans, deviantart, croqui, google, and that the photos can be in black and white, before croqui and the forum, I had used a few times sites that scroll the poses at the time, one is no longer there but 2 others there they are still, I do not remember the name but I have written the link, it is nice especially one because it holds figures but also faces, hands and animals, I have not used it recently but every now and then I have opened it) or videos (videos instead have an advantage that they move and then simulate more session from life, so this for those who aim to do sessions from life and these in addition or temporarily is a point, what time you find it in some sites or you put it, there is no the slightest movements however). So often only croqui that then I found it fundamental so as to choose quickly, without thinking, following a list etc (in February one video a day, immediacy and archive, another good thing and that they added portait section), Other times maybe a temptation (only my fault) to forget to try the drawings of the masters, studies or try from life even if not people (but objects, models etc) I don’t have paypal to subscribe. on the other hand some wrong choices and finally I stopped during the exam to enter the last year. year after that for a short time I had paypal (I tried to write in the marketplace but then it became, like, 50 cents for 10 hours), but I have not had it for a long time and then in the last 2 years they have made laws that dissuade me, if I was in the nation of croqui I wrote to him as an alternative. this is out of the question, to choose, if they have a monthly subscription I think it is convenient, then it also depends on whether you use videos, photos.

You definitely have to pay for a whole year Joe, I guess because you could download all you want in one month

Yes, just as I started to take it for granted!

It was inevitable, I guess. I may fork out for a year’s worth as I am getting a lot out of their archive models at the moment.

Thanks for that Joe. A lot of the links don’t go the the right model so its obviously an old page. While the pictures are there I cant see any reason why we cant use them. I don’t see that you need to inform Croquis about this as I suspect they still have work to do to get there new system updated. It is a shame that we now have to pay but these are difficult times and there is no reason why Croquis should not make the resource a pay site.

There are other pay sites and of course many zoom type sessions so its up to everyone to make a choice.

yes yes David, you’re right, I was undoubted about the two things, what you say makes more sense, I absolutely agree, thanks.
I’m sorry for yuotube that censored it I believe unfairly, maybe, if they had been flexible on the art resources on the famous video channel, maybe they could continue as a free resource, but above all I think this censorship was unjustified because they went from 2 extremes, I believe that it was plausible to check this in good taste and make it accessible in case of majority
and what they could actually consider to be removed (i.e. I consider it pornography and to date it is a bit of a contradiction however they will have had their reasons on youtube quinndi ok, it’s just an observation, a thought that came to me then thinking about subscription)

We are so used to getting everything for free, I don’t know how we would get on if we had to pay for everything on the internet…. I don’t know how they do it, and as Harry said  I take  much of it for granted and I wouldn’t access sites anywhere near as much as I do if I had to pay for things!

I have really only used Croquis cafe a couple of times, though  if I didn’t have access to regular life drawing groups I would possibly consider joining, but I don’t need it at the moment.
