I’ve been so busy with work the last couple of months, i’ve been producing my best work so far, it’s so motivating when that happens.

This work is done on primed panel, i used pastelprimer of Schmincke, panel is 25x37cm. I actually used predominantly conte sticks, more so than rembrandt pastels.

I found the tooth to be too course for my softer pastels to really fill up the tooth. But surprisingly the harder pastels worked out quiet well.

Wow, what a great portrait! The lighting and skin tones are really well done! I like the expression very much; it’s a nice change from a formal pose.

I agree with Donna. This is quite interesting. There is a bit of emotion, perhaps surprise, coming through. Well done!

What I love about this is that it’s believable even in the somewhat soft / harsh lighting that is presenting this fellow as definitely green. That said I think it’s fabulous! I love this painting. I love how you were able to sneak in just smidgen of pinks and oranges to soften the greens. The expression, as Donna has said, is just incredible. It looks a little bit like a self-portrait, and maybe almost selfie-ish if that makes sense?

Either (or any) way, it is unique, arresting, enticing and intriguing!

I have a white dog and lots of pastels...but are any of them the right color when I need them to be?

                        Wow, a fantastic portrait.
The green skin tones look believable as Aly said and the expression is very special.
