I have it in mind to launch a series of images that don’t sit well with those on my current art website. I had thought of rejigging the site to show the alternative images instead, but as I get about three visitors a week and absolutely no feedback or inquiries on that site, I thought I would try another, and have been trying to organise one using a Wix template.

However,  time and again – including about eight of the past 24 hours – I have come unstuck after setting up a Wix ‘Home’ page. Things just don’t go where you want them to, or stay put, follow the tucked-away little instructions as you might. Whatever anyone says (unless they are much sharper than me, which might well be possible) Wix sites are not a doddle to set up.

I would be interested to know if anyone else has had such a frustrating time setting up a Wix site, and if they know of an easier one (preferably free) which attracts browsers.

I don’t know of wix, but I did once use one of those type of template sites and found similar problems as you describe. Some of the help tutorials just didn’t match what I was seeing. I got fed-up with it and abandoned it.

In reading your messgae it occurred to me to wonder if you had considered putting the material on Flickr? It’s not a personal site, true, but it still has a lot of users. I wouldn’t want to use Flickr as a replacement for my personal site but things I put there appear to attract more attention than my personal site—or maybe it’s just that I don’t have the evidence of traffic on my site, whereas Flickr records the ‘views’.

Feedback? well it’s unusual to receive a comment on Flickr (but it has happened) but many people do ‘like’ things on Flickr and I do have a few follwers there. Also there are ‘groups’, where, if the work is of a more specific interest, you could find like-minds.

PLEASE how do I make these dreadful yellow things go away? OMG there's even more of the awful things now.
