just started this last week… Its a winter city scene .. I am going to try and do this in 5 passes… 1st just get the paint on the board, 2nd measuring, 3rd the shading, 4th the details(windows and other stuff) 5th the background….

question for you guys, I am going to use a bow compass how well does a ruling pen work with oil paint? Has any one used a ruling pen with oil paint? Maybe a brush in the compass will work…
This is looking good so far. I can’t help you with the ruling pen, never tried. I have drawn on the back of a picture with charcoal, then put the picture on the dry paint layer, trace with a sharp tipped pen, lifted up paper and viola – drawing is on the canvas. One can also use paint (thin layer but pure pigment paint, NO MEDIUM) on the back of the paper and trace, this also works.
