I can’t find the link to the site for ‘glues’.
I love making stretchy bracelets.
To finish the piece, I just make a double knot like I use for fishing.
Does anyone know what kind of glue would work?
It seems like a couple drops would make a better finish.
I’ve heard that some glues are not compatible for rubber, and they disolve or otherwise compromise the integrity of the material.
Actually when I researched making stretchy bracelets, I was told, by many on the wearable arts board to use no glue.
I was told to tie a sailor’s knot and slip a bead over it. That’s how I do it and have no problems. My mind still wants to put some glue on it though, lol, it just seems like the right thing to do!!
I use a drop of clear nailpolish on the knot before tucking it into a larger hole bead. If some of the polish gets onto the outside of the bead, I just scrape it off when it’s dry!
I ALWAYS use glue — and just the G-S Hypo Cement that is about $5 in any craft store — usually found in the beads section. I have had problems with slippage without it — and I use a surgeon’s knot, but that may just be me. –Would love to hear how to do a sailor’s knot….?
And just a note about this group — I LOVE IT!!! So much information is shared — I am learning more each time and it is a great use of time and a refreshing change from the sites that babble on about personal lives and events (also interesting from a voyeuristic point of view — but that’s a different hobby )
