Can someone with more understanding of these things tell me why I get these e-mails?
I use Instagram. I use Instagram on my iPad. I use Instagram on my ‘phone (sometimes). But most often, by a very long way, I use Instagram on my laptop (I prefer the proper keyboard rather than poking at a screen with my finger like a chimp in some experiment).
So, in terms of my ‘device log-ins’ the laptop is far and away the most common. And yet I get e-mails saying We’ve noticed a new log-in with a device from… etc. It identifies the type of device, the browser used and the location. None of which are any different from when I logged in yesterday…or the day before that…ot any other day in recent years.
Why?
It’s the same with Apple iCloud—although not quite as bad. It’s not every time I log in, but my ‘phone and iPad were ‘new’ over a year ago, and I’d expect something like this the first time. But once they become regular and frequent devices for me I’d expect it to cease.
It’s no more than a minor irritation except that if their system can’t identify a laptop it’s dealt with almost every day for years, then I worry about other aspects of their data security.
PLEASE how do I make these dreadful yellow things go away? OMG there's even more of the awful things now.

We must leave our mark on this worldDecember 6, 2023 at 2:20 am #1534433Yes Doug, obviously. You seem to miss my point however. It’s not a new log-in on a new device. It’s the device I use the vast majority of the time.

I know they’re sometime nerve racking but its still good to check them out. Sometimes I haven signed in in a long time, its does that. Sometimes I get those after my computer had a major update with the operating system. Its usually me that signs in at someplace I regularly go. Sometimes they get the location slightly wrong when I get pinged for signing in. But I know its still me since its time stamped exactly when I was signing in on that day.
None the less its a good reminder to change your password specially if you haven’t changed it in a while.

We must leave our mark on this worldDecember 13, 2023 at 10:30 pm #1535062Wow. That’s too bad. ?♀️Bullies really need to get a life and put those skills to practical and not harming ways and actually make money honestly. But this is totally useless and obnoxious. ??
