Thanks Jo – I’m 100% palette knife now – have not used any brushes for a ling time! I appreciate your comment! I am also enjoying using the clear gessoed linen canvas panels and leavung some of the canvas to show thru as the desert floor.

Love the latest two expressive palette knife and brush paintings Richard. I never can make up my mind about leaving the linen unpainted as I have done that with one of my paintings and it looks unfinished. Yet having said that I think it does work in your painting gives it another dimension.

String Of Mesas – AZ Badlands

I love the AZ Badlands, they are remote, rough, and rugged, but most of all they are beautiful.

18×24 on heavy 225lb linen paper with Chroma Interactive acrylics applied quickly with palette knife. This was done as a “study” for a 36×48 gallery wrapped canvas project I’m thinking about. I’ve never painted a canvas this big so I’m taking it on with “baby steps” so I can better get a grasp on the project.

I also need to order a goodly supply of paint!!!! :>))
