Thanks Jenna – I generated the basic scene doing an underpainting with a 1&1/2 inch brush – when dry, I attacked it with my palette knife. Lots of fun!!! I’m finding my palette knife work takes less concentration and my brain does not have to work so hard!!

http://painterofthesouthwest.blogspot.com/October 7, 2021 at 10:12 am #1440057I’m loving all the barns. You must have quite a series of them by now. They all have a great, vintage mood to them. I love the Start of Sunrise too. Such subtlety…just that kiss of light on the horizon. Well done!

October 7, 2021 at 4:27 pm #1440090Thanks Jenna – most of the barns are from my imagination or memory from ones I’ve seen.
I have always been interested in them.

http://painterofthesouthwest.blogspot.com/October 9, 2021 at 6:01 am #1440359Today is Saturday – normally not a painting morning for me – BUT yesterday – Friday, was a painting morning but we went shopping at Trader Joe’s, which left no time for painting!
I woke up at 5am this morning, dreaming about painting — sooooo I got up and did a quick sketch of what I was dreaming about.

12×16 on linen canvas panel using SoHo HB Acrylics with big brush and palette knife. I think the contrasting smooth cloudless Sedona blue sky and the heavy texture of the rock formations adds an element of interest.

http://painterofthesouthwest.blogspot.com/October 14, 2021 at 8:58 pm #1441344Mmmm, I like the latest barn. The cornfield made me smile. I do love the landscapes the most, though. Evil grin.

My website https://jocastilloart.comOctober 15, 2021 at 10:14 am #1441449I love coming back here to see what’s new. I’ve not had much free time lately, so have been a little scarce around here. I love your barns, and your skies, and your landscapes. You just put so much mood and atmosphere into your work. Fantastic works, as always!
