Here’s 2 hours worth. I thought it would be quicker than this. About 28x30cm on colourfix primed acrylic paper in soft pastels. I’ve ducked out on the challenge, and just done a straight picture. It’s a nice break from my recent struggles with coloured pencils. There’s a least another couple of hours work, but so far, I’m happy enough.

February 25, 2019 at 6:24 pm #788032Outstanding! I can see that you have real drawing skill and excellent control with the pastels. I’m eager to see the finished piece, I’m sure it will be beautiful, with such a great start!

She never seemed shattered; to me, she was a breathtaking mosaic of the battles she had won. - Matt BakerFebruary 26, 2019 at 1:39 am #788035Thank you, Maureen, Floblue, Kay, Tyree, Wendy, Connie and Lisilk. Oh, I wish I could draw that well, Connie. I trace from a photo of the reference, so a bit of a cheat.
Here’s what I’ve ended up with … maybe another hour and a quarter. I’m not happy that I’ve gotten the paper so dirty. I might think about a background. I’m not sure. I’ll sit with it for a day or so and see how I feel, whether I think it’s worth the extra time. And then, of course, I’d have to try and decide what sort of background. Anyway, this is it.

February 26, 2019 at 2:56 am #788033…love this, t’is fab as is…I don’t feel it needs a bg, the items are well grounded, and neither do I feel the very slightly smudged paper detracts from the subject at all. It’s gorgeous 👍🏼
