I started this one with the innocent intention to dabble a bit with my fineart supplies that were gathering the dust and at the end of the day, I wonder if there is still some likeness with the photo! :clear: Let’s call it artistic license!
Watercolour + watercolour pencils on cold-pressed watercolour paper. Postcard format.

I think you’ve taken the photo to new heights by featuring the one flower so beautifully. Very dynamic, how the leaves work with the floral image, that’s very special. And I love the yellow/gold background, its delightful. I echo others in saying that I hope we’ll be seeing your work here regularly.

March 22, 2020 at 11:38 am #963368Thank you all for your kind comments. They are very much appreciated.
Painting this small WC was quite fun. So why stop there?
Trio of onions. Sketch with graphite pencil as you would have guessed. :wink2:
March 22, 2020 at 4:44 pm #963364The flower is nice, although somewhat less ‘lace’ like than the original picture, but that’s your artist license. (LACEnse?)
The onions are very well rendered as well.
March 23, 2020 at 9:32 am #963357Welcome, welcome Heliosart! What a nice way to join in with not one , but two very good works! Both are so nicely done I cannot pick a favorite!

George Tooker 1920 - 2011March 23, 2020 at 7:20 pm #963352So good that you’re dusting off those art supplies, because the purple flower is sweet and the onion sketch is beautiful!
Wendy C&C always welcome
Everybody likes feedback! Please remember to comment on others' threads, even if it's just a "nice work" post.
March 24, 2020 at 3:11 pm #963370yes, I agree: both are excellent: the flower simple and clean and the drawing has very effective shadings that create the shapes.

March 25, 2020 at 6:34 am #963356Beautiful work on your two pieces. Your flower is so bright and positive. Makes me happy to look at it. Wonderful form and I love the green framing at the bottom. Your onions are so elegantly done. Love the roundness and luscious curves. You certainly know how to handle your graphite.
Amazing talent displayed, a joy to see. Big congrats from my part.
Sandy.:thumbsup:C&C always welcome
