I have 64 tubes (mostly single pigment) ….. and I am always trying new colors.I never use more than 8 or 10 colors in any one painting, but I love having all of those colors to choose from….
am I painting a traditional English landscape with muted colors or a colorful Mediterranean or tropical seascape or am I painting a floral still life with beautiful flower colors?
I have uses for all of my colors…and every color that I own is on a wall chart taped to the wall in front of my painting table so I can see at a glance what colors I have and decide which to use in a particular painting…
