There I go…
So, not forgetting this is the figure forum, I finally started to work the figure :)…
At the beggining I had the idea of doing this one very figurative, but I like how it is unfolding on this style, I think to keep it…
I’m using a yellow ochre base plus some permanent alzarin crimson, deep red cadmium, and a little bit (really little) of thalo blue and green (I don’t have the name in english but in spanish is “laca esmeralda” green)… I add white to get lights and thalo blue + burnt sienna to get some shadows, there’s a lot of green on the resulting shadows because of the mix yellow ochre + thalo blue and I like them, they’re also the result of a non direct influence from the surrounding background… So far I have the torso worked with this new oil coat…Regards…

The question is not "can you paint", the question is "do you have paintings in you?"
July 10, 2003 at 7:48 am #1011719Very ethereal, B_John! I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to show progress photos of the work. Very nice!

thanks for looking and commentingThere I go…
After a busy week I finally had some time to continue this work…
Second oil coat, skin, applied on the arms and head…
I felt some lost of rythim because of the time I left this paint I guess…
Right hand that I fear, right hand that I fear, there is this problem I have, there is no model anymore, she just modeled the reference drawing, there’s no reference photograph so, when I have doubt about a detail or part of the body I have to use my imagination, you can see it on the right hand…I’m a fan of strong colors, alive colors, so I decided to use some oranges on the skin…
More crazy thoughts coming to my mind…
Regards…

July 18, 2003 at 10:35 am #1011716Coming along nicely , I really like the golden color on her left forearm, the left hand bothers me a little as it looks a little skeletal. The oranges on the body are nice, but I’d like to see that gold color flowing along with the orange some more!
Just a thought…

thanks for looking and commenting, agree on your comments on the hand… look up the little change I made…There I go…
Continuing with the figure I worked her hair and several details around the body, some more strong colors over here and there, influences, I would like to have this figure almos finished before entering the other figure…

July 21, 2003 at 3:32 pm #1011711Some might say surreal but, it looks more dream-like to me, great work so far……can’t wait to see the next step

July 23, 2003 at 6:54 pm #1011748Hello D_Sweet, thanks for looking and commenting, somehow the dream-like looking is part of the idea
There I go…
Started with the white figure, not pleased at all with how some parts of that figure turned out but I’ve got some ideas, I’m talking about the white head, it’s a too strong undesired focal point, I nedd to let the oil coat rest a bit before continuing there…

July 28, 2003 at 7:08 pm #1011749There I go…
It’s getting pretty near the end at last…
I didn’t want to, but as usual it happened… I printed my work line, it wasn’t planned but… well, just get crazy sometimes
The white figure is still strong, although I like it better than the previous one I had, maybe just needs some little yellows influences from the moon over those face’s whites…Regards…
