Paper clay, DAS, the rabbit head arm and wing are approx 25x15cm, the big feather is no more, broke during transportation.

        2020

Edit: This is a sculpture from 2020. I work associatively, by which I mean I I did not think before hand: yeah, I’ll make a person lying under a wing with a rabbit’s head.. I did the head, then it was step by step, i made the wing, combined, wanted an arm, and then wanted hand to hold the feather.. The large feather is no more, it didn’t survive the transport. But it was better that way.

When it comes to “what does it all mean?” I think it is often subtle and wordless, and what meaning it had during process might not be the same as it is just now. I think that’s something that’s to be expected with art and sometimes it is better that the piece itself do the talking, I can mainly give anecdotal ramblings. But in general I love animals and live with two pet rabbits that roam my apartment. I am interested in elevating the status of animals as sentient intelligent beings. We come from a traditions where we petcieve ourselfs as put by god to lord over animals and nature because we are the only feeling, intelligent being, broadly speaking – and the more we start to question that unhealthy narcissistc notion the better probably. But is that contained in this sculpture? No I don’t know… This might be about life and death and safety and something ambivalent, is it safe and familiar and cozy or is it frightening and strange and a relic of something dead, a memory… Well but I think also it can stand for the viewer to interact with.

It looks so delicate, has it been fired?

No, it is a kind of clay that is probably based on som glue (wood glue maybe) and cellulose and chalk, or something like that, its is a hobby clay called DAS there are others similar called Darwi, etc. Search for air drying clay. I have black as well. There is also ochre and terracotta, and cement gray. They aren’t waterfast but can be painted and sealed when completely dried. They are light weight and pretty hardy, though the wing was so leaf thin and feathers were just pinched and added, so k7nd frail, yes.

And yes a part of the wing broke when travelling home, but broke in such I nice way I thought it might be part of the art process to carry it home. I will photograp that later and put here, because that is actually the finished work.

It would help us if you would add a description to your posts.

Yes, I am familiar with DAS.

In the post. We usually like to see details of size, medium, a description of the subject etc.
