I heard on the radio news that Apple is announcing the release of its AI features for the OS of iPhones. They have chosen (the report said) not to produce AI apps, but rather to integrate AI into the operating system in order to …create a more integrated operating system.
The example given was …you have your daughter’s birthday marked in your iCalendar … ye-e-es… The Ai will not only remind you but will connect to and show you her contact information in your Contacts.
Wow. What a thrilling and astounding world we can look forward to.
Are these people completely mad or just very, very desperate? My sister has a smart-phone but uses a paper calendar on her kitchen wall. If she has her daughter’s birthday marked on it, which she might, I don’t know, she doesn’t need to be reminded of her address because she know’s it by heart: she doesn’t need to know her ‘phone number because, like most of us now, she doesn’t need to remember ‘phone numbers anymore; she just taps the button.
I’ve heard many stories and reports on the matter of what we might have to fear about the use of AI in the future. If this is the extent of it from one of the biggest tech companies, then there’s little to fear at all. Just more to be annoyed at.
PLEASE how do I make these dreadful yellow things go away? OMG there's even more of the awful things now.

But there is much to fear of. The only hope is that some governments will begin to limit all that. Then of course there will be countries, maybe China, who will decide to continue and so on. People never learn.

C&C always welcomeJune 17, 2024 at 4:42 pm #1550757Humans are currently the most intelligent beings on the planet. In a few years that might not be the case. And in a decade or two we might be competing for resources with something unfathomable more capable. It might not even be limited to live inside computers, it could develop a hive mind type of existence etc. Sounds like science fiction. And hopefully that is the case.
I just want an ai to do my dishes and laundry. Not the fun stuff like writing and paintingFree to use photo references: https://www.wetcanvas.com/members/rikard/media
