Merri – both are really nice – different styles too.
I particularly like the leaves and colour mixes for the first and the second just oozes joy! The lilies and leaves busting out!
Cheers, Maureen

Second rose, just lovely… I had a go at this one.
Third with the rain drops… just gorgeous.Kay – lovely loose bouquet of roses… gorgeous and colourful.
Joy, a beautiful painting of a soft rose. the typical ‘ashes of roses’ colour. love it.
Imelda – so beautiful the wild roses.. they are usually 5 petals with lots of yummy for the bees open centres. You have created a lovely painting.
Ams – very pretty colours on a beautiful background of green. All works a treat. well done.
Thanks for the nice comments on mine Maureen. I so much enjoyed the lillies. really mucked about with the background. cheers

Kay – love your vase full of roses
Joy – your rose is beautifully done. I don’t see the struggle.
Imelda – lovely wild roses
Anne – your lillies are beautifully done also. I love the softness of your work.

"Painting is my meditation"June 27, 2024 at 7:38 am #1554672I attempted the Rose on the Trellis. Man, did that take alot of tape… I am not happy with my results this time. I ran out of time and tried to rush. That didn’t work… After looking at it now, I think I should have maybe gone darker in the bg and lighter on the rose leaves?!? This is how I learn.
I think this one is destined for the bin!! Oh well, maybe next time.

"Painting is my meditation"June 27, 2024 at 7:56 am #1554676Cindy, I think your trellis is just the best and something I would resist trying. So tip hat for the trellis. The fence and letterbox is just fab. The rose covering it is lovely too. I agree the bg has swallowed the rose up a bit, but I still think the whole pic is really lovely. Beautiful work.
Cheers Merri

June 27, 2024 at 8:08 am #1554679No, no, no, Cindy, DO NOT BIN!
I think this really looks good and just needs a little bit of lighter greens on the rose leaves to allow touches of brighter red to stand out a bit. I really liked this as soon as it came on the page!

Merri, nice work on both of yours.
Cindy, I like how your trellis came out. Definately not bin worthy.
Here’s my version of one of the roses. About 8″ square, ink & inktense in XL Mixed Media sketchbook.

Cindy – wow! I can see you put a lot of work in it. Is it wc? I usually have a problem with too dark reds so i add orange gouache to brighten it.
