Winter has been basically nonexistent this year in the eastern United States, so we’ll just imagine an appropriate scene. Here, the sun peeks above the distant trees, quickly bringing a bit of light and warmth to a frigid, snowy scene. Clouds roll by, perhaps remnants of whatever storm brought the snow.

My Goodness Matthew….blew me away! What a beauty. All aspects in harmony,  the light is just right.

Amazing piece Matthew!  I just love the way you painted the sun going down behind those trees and love all of that wonder glow across the snow.  Well done.

I know what you mean about this Winter.  It has really been a strange one and I think we have had 10% of the snow we usually do….

I see this as the sun rising on a very cold morning. Maybe because we are having a cold spell here!

Everything else being equal, I would rather be in the painting zone.

Matthew, this is magnificent! Sunrise always means hope for a new day.  Brilliant sky, background treeline, and foreground.

The colors are great on this.  It is like stopping on an early morning walk in the winter to catch the dawn.  Gary

Wonderful, poetic scene beautifully painted by you Matthew.  There is a magic quality in this one in that I could gaze at it for a long time and each time I would feel so peaceful and happy.

Love the little touches of orange light across the blue shadowed snow.
