I was going thorugh the paint box the other day (preparing for classes to restart after March break) and checking supplies (for a trip to the art store to replenish some paints) and noticed that I was running low on aureolin.
I do recall a couple of conversations here regarding aureolin and its lack of lightfastness. Does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement? (I do sol love it!).

March 24, 2010 at 7:11 pm #1137435I use Hansa Yellow from Daniel Smith. For a more neutral yellow, I have Azo Yellow by M. Graham… both are excellent substitutions…

March 24, 2010 at 7:42 pm #1137443What a coincidence. I was just looking at some artist blogs and someone suggested using Winsor Lemon. I haven’t tried it, but if that helps……

Char introduced me to the color a couple years ago in her Macro class and I’ve been a fan ever since! Thanks Char!

http://cheryldevoto.blogspot.comMarch 25, 2010 at 5:57 pm #1137441Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions….I checked Handprint first, but wanted to get some further “hands on” suggestions from those who actually paint with various products…I had already sorta/kinda settled on the M. Graham Azo Yellow but wanted to hear if anyone had any pros or cons on it…it looks like that may be the next addition to the paint box!
Thanks again!

I don’t have it, so really can’t make a judgement about it… and, as Judyth has mentioned, I really do love M. Graham’s Azo…
