Virginia – I’m sure you didn’t lie (surely a lie is an intentional thing?)!
Maybe if there are enough users willing to put in a small sum a purchase might be possible!(count me in)
January 30, 2021 at 8:25 am #1378705Keith, we’re not paid, we’re volunteers.
Thanks Norman, I appreciate that.

Find me on FacebookFebruary 1, 2021 at 6:07 pm #1379662TOO MANY STICKIES
On the acrylics forum there are 14 stickies to scroll thru before you get to the actual forum. I say scroll because no one is going to stop and read 14 stickies. And it IS fourteen – go count them I’m not exaggerating. Other forums are nearly as bad.
How about ONE stickie at the top of the forum, and when you click it, all 14 stickies come down as sub-headings, just like what happens in the actual forum.
It must be confusing to new users – I think many bail after 11 or 12 and just figure the forum is all click bate.

STUDIOBONGOJuly 2, 2021 at 1:32 am #14192031/20 -We have been told by the liaison between the volunteer staff and the owner that due to the pandemic funds are tight and no further updates are planned at this time. Thank you.
It seems the Wall Street mentality took over the ownership of this site from the Main Street mentality –
in other words – the user experience (which was great) is no longer valued – because MONETIZATION is the new sheriff in town.
Only one major flaw with that – when MONETIZATION drives away the user base – well – (‘nothin from ‘nothin – leaves ‘nothin …
And you gotta have ‘somethin if you want to be with me) – and this dysfunctional site is now what we have.
Let me be clear – I’m not blaming the moderators – they’ve been blind-sided and left hopping on one foot. ~
1- the original site was always a ‘feeder’ site to the bigger site -> https://www.artistsnetwork.com/
2- the original site created ‘community’ and the bigger site was supposed to ‘feed’ on that with
more educational goodies (for a price).
3- But the original site owners didn’t know how to ‘work’ it’s partners into the mix – so they just loaded up their links – thinking that the community would log on and buy without being seduced first. That never works.
4- What I’ve noticed with the ‘community’ and many art communities is – many people with art talent just want to have fun. They don’t want to become Picasso or Kinkade. They want to put their efforts out there and get some kind of pat on the back, some kindly feedback, sometimes good feedback – but in the main –
they are not driven towards the business of becoming a working artist.
But – they will watch videos, buy books and attend workshops. Because for the many – art is really
a means to enjoy social. Which gets missed when one’s ownership hat is strictly financial.
5- Alas for some reason the prior owners let the image storage costs drive the site into the ground.
A fundraiser just might have solved those issues as the active community at one time was bigger than HUGE.
A fundraiser very possibly could solve the current issues – but what do I know?
6- The moderators are doing a magnificent job holding it together. Seems like they are not ‘in the loop.’
7- You only have to look at the parent site (-> https://www.artistsnetwork.com/) … to see MONETIZATION in action.
8- The suggested changes – ‘creation dates’, search functions and site views are what made the original site super user friendly.
9- But MONETIZATION wants a ‘sticky’ site – it’s wants to keep you on the site searching and searching for what you want.
Unfortunately – ‘sticky’ has backfired on this site and no one is commenting like they once did and for good reason –
you go to an offering and find out it is not recent – it was uploaded a year ago. Meaning the artists who
uploaded their works have moved on and your ‘today’ comments will be meaningless.
10- This site is not losing it’s mojo because artists aren’t viewing the images (site views used to tell us
how many people visited an image – but that was left out).
11- This site is losing it’s mojo because some very simple lines of code were left out – in hopes of moving us over to the parent site. (Just my opinion.)
12- Well the parent site is making a huge mistake – because now it’s lost it’s feeder ‘community.’
13a- I suspect the parent site has decided it’s Google #1 ranks are all that’s needed.
13b- However Wetcanvas has already reached major Google #1 ranks. Wetcanvas still pulls huge numbers of viewers – they are just not acknowledged on the site.
This site is still a very big boy on the block.
With 1,021,429 members and 11,809 active members – they should get their respect.
Best regards,
Picassolite
August 14, 2022 at 2:11 pm #1481718Update January 2020: We have been told by the liaison between the volunteer staff and the owner that due to the pandemic funds are tight and no further updates are planned at this time. Thank you. Your suggestions are very much appreciated. Please add your suggestions for the site to this thread if they have not already been made by someone else. We may not be able to respond to every suggestion and most don’t require a response but they are read and passed on.
It’s been over two years since this original post, and as far as I can see, not one of the valid suggestions has been implemented. This says an awful lot about the owners of this site, and none of it good.
Why the owners would believe that a clunky, user-hostile site would keep old users – let alone attract new ones – is beyond me. They seem to believe that they are the only duck in the pond, which they are not.
What makes a site fantastic is the interactions between members, but if members – and potential members – are driven away by a non-responsive management, who can blame the members?

August 15, 2022 at 8:20 am #1481813Rich, they were going to switch again to another format. Unfortunately, there was a lot of staff changeover and all plans have again been put off. We have no idea when or if they will update the site at this moment.
I’m going to close this thread as the owners are obviously not reading it and it may be all moot anyway if they switch formats again.
Check out the pinned thread at the top of every forum about the site updates.
Thanks.
