Hi Michelle – My stay-wet palette setup is similar to Pauls.
I use a large plastic container (a cheap one only $5.00) with a lid. I turn it over, so my palette is the lid. I then put a couple of paper kitchen towels into it and run water from the tap on to them…tip out the excess water then insert a piece of “Baking Paper” (not sure what you call it in the USA, but it’s paper that you line oven trays with etc.) on top of the wet paper towels and away I go.
Because I can only paint in short intervals…half an hour at the most…I needed a palette which would keep my paints wet when I come back to them. When I’m finished using them for a while, I mist them with water, put the other half of the container on to close as a lid. My paint can keep wet for days, using this method. :)
