Hi! I have a thread going in drawing and sketching re:a drawing I’m currently working on – but I spilled tea on my drawing!!! Apparently I am not the only one, b/c other people wrote in to say they spilled stuff on art, too! Cats seem to be a big problem in the studio with their little paw prints!!;) And one person even said they had blood on from a paper cut, but managed to cover it up!!
My question is: what have you spilled on art, and did it come out?!!
p.s. here is the tea on my drawing!

-January 6, 2003 at 12:14 pm #1005648Beautiful drawing, I like the style….
Ugh, yes I’ve spilled ‘stuff’ on canvas and painting, usually coffee..but I let it dry (on canvas) and then see what it looks like and if I can dab it off with some linseed oil. If not, I paint over it.
On paper (watercolor paper), it depends on how far along the painting is and where/how much coffee is spilled, but dab it up with some tissue (Puffs or soft paper towel). As long as there isn’t so much liquid it crinkles the paper…
Sometimes it actually adds to the ‘tint’ of the paper….;)
January 6, 2003 at 12:22 pm #1005641This is how you fix your drawing. You finish it and then you mail it to me, thus hiding the evidence. Then you do a new drawing of the same subject.
HORSES!!!!!
I have one too. I should put him in my tinyhead someday. He’s a nearly 24 yr old Appaloosa retiree, out to pasture living the Good Life with my small herd of sheep.
There we go, put him in my tinyhead so everyone may see him. he’s a pretty one, all flashy, splashy and spotted.
Horses and sheep are Good Things (tm). Everyone should have at least one of each. Horses teach you not to fight with things that are bigger than you and sheep, well, they're just cute.
January 6, 2003 at 1:21 pm #1005638Ah yes, tea. Many times. Not on anything really good though. Now I use a travel mug. I find I can’t draw and not drink at the same time.
I’m with leaf – if you feel the drawing is ruined, feel free to mail it to me, and I will dispose of it properly, in a frame on my wall….:D
January 6, 2003 at 1:24 pm #1005639I use to spill coffee on my work, and even inks or paints! I have quite having coffe on the same table, and take my time on the inking and painting anymore. I have had less spills of late, which makes me a happy camper!:D

January 6, 2003 at 1:40 pm #1005634I have also spilled on my drawings. Mostly, it is black tea, so I can stain the entire drawing the same colour.
I also use a travel mug now. This is not so much because of spills, but because I am continually dipping my brushes into my open mug…
Thinks don’t look too bad for your drawing IMHO, but if it really bugs you, I can also find space on my walls for it.

Illegitimi Non CarborundumJanuary 6, 2003 at 7:22 pm #1005643LOL!!:p Thanks for the kind words on the drawing! I amost gave it up but hopefully I can hide the stains! (Or the subjects of the drawing may find themselves being lower body amputees! – ooooh – that sounds weird, seeing as it’s me in the drawing! Well – a 13 year old me!).
Funny stories on the spills – but hey, that’s such a GREAT idea on the travel mug- aha! the light comes on!!! I can still draw, stare at horses, and drink tea!!!!! Life is great!!
Leaf – so HAPPY you got your APPY on your tinyhead!! The horse in the photo is my 27 year old “baby” – Dolly – whom I’ve had for almost 21 years!!!!! OK maybe you may already know that b/c I’m always talking about her………I’m horse (Dolly) obsessed……obsessed I say!! mu-ha ha ha ha!!
OK I’ve calmed down now. hee hee. ‘Scuse me, gotta go put Dolly to bed tuck her in and give her a kiss and a hug;) :rolleyes:Art is the imagination at play in the field of time. Let yourself play.
-January 6, 2003 at 7:26 pm #1005644Chrisite I forgot to say I’ve done that, too – suddenly realizing I’m dipping my brush into my tea – oops!
One time instead of throwing my brush into the water jar, I threw in a tube of paint. At my second acrylic painting class with lots of other people :o ooops…..Art is the imagination at play in the field of time. Let yourself play.
-January 6, 2003 at 7:38 pm #1005632artcrazy, try out a small amount of Hydrogen peroxide on a Q-tip, daub don’t rub, use a blotter paper over top and place a bunch of heavy flat books over it, do this over a few times, most of the stain will be gone and no damage should come to the paper, especially if it’s a good weight.
Good luck.

… ‘Scuse me, gotta go put Dolly to bed tuck her in and give her a kiss and a hug;) [/B]You sound like me. Anyone who has talked with me in the WC chat room knows more than they EVER cared to about Royal, my appy. He’s a 23, soon to be 24 yr old show horse retiree who also did a stint as a schoolmaster horse teaching young children how to jump a horse (he’s an EXCELLENT show jumper and hunter and also was taught low-level dressage, and has also run barrel racing, polebending and western pleasure/trail too). It’s also a well-known WC Chat fact that I head out to the barn about 10 pm every night without fail to put the horse to bed, give him his nite nite goodies, put his blanket on, scratch his butt awhile (he’s male, go figure) and feed him his overnight hay. He likes hugs and kisses and if I don’t offer them first, he’ll start nuzzling my neck and nibbling my ears. I told my husband that this morning since Royal was doing that last night (he can be quite charming when he wants more treats) and Mr Leaf replied “Remind me to never nibble your earlobes ever again”. LOL
Here’s to horses!!!!

January 6, 2003 at 8:50 pm #1005631I have never spilled anything on my work but I have had a cocker spaniel sit on a newly completed pastel and enthusiastically wag his stumpy little tail. And what I can tell you from this is that there is a reason art supply stores don’t sell cocker spaniels.
