Hello artists friends! I am looking for a light weight, hardcover sketchbook that is smaller than A4 or letter size for traveling. For this sketchbook I do not intend to use any heavy or wet medium, 95% would be pencil so the weight of the paper is not important. In fact, I prefer it to be lighter, and the thickness of the paper does not matter either.

I do want it to be medium sized, not a pocket field note. For the kind of sketch I will be doing, I have noticed that a letter/A4 size is nice, but not necessary.

It does not have to be an art sketchbook, as I found a lot of art supplies claiming twice or three times the price without providing any significant advantage.

One drawback of hardcover is the inflexible spine. That is why I prefer copic bound without the super hard shell. the examples are listed in the pictures. The left is hardbound the right is copic bound

Hello. I’m guessing that ‘copic’ is a mis-typing for coptic. I’ve never seen a coptic bound sketchbook from any of the online suppliers I use—true, I wasn’t looking for such a thing so might have missed it but I don’t think that’s the case.

I did a search on ‘coptic binding’ and the first page was all of the ‘How to…’ variety from Skillshare, WikiHow and the like. Make your own?

I did a second search on ‘coptic bound sketchbook’ with similar results: first page was all tutorials except for the first which was the standrad Amazon rubbish ad, and one in Etsy. But when I looked at that page it was for skecthbooks and notebooks, only two of which were actually coptic bound. And they were very expensive.

Maybe you’ve been through this yourself and that’s why you’re saking here. If anyone has an answer I’d be interested myself I think.

PLEASE how do I make these dreadful yellow things go away?
