Clay on wood – 4″
There is a story about this. When I was Director of Research at one of the NASA Center, our Equal Opportunity Officer was a young blind woman who was interested in art. I was deep into sculpture at the time (1977) so we had her over for dinner and after I was showing her how to sculpt with clay. I created this head to let her feel the depth and features. She never took to sculpture. Later I finished it up a bit and had it cast in bronze. Shortly after that I switch to sculpting with wax which i like for the details. I included photos of the finished bronze casting and one of my bronzes from wax modelling.
