love the drama in this photo!
Me too. And I also like the side lighting. Great photo.
I think you got these butterflies trained, Peter.Photography is the art of observation. It has little to to with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them. Elliott Erwitt

July 6, 2018 at 1:05 pm #651669AnonymousThese are very good, people.
Here’s one taken an hour ago. (It’s not as good as most of the images above, and I apologize for bringing down the average quality in this thread.)

really good pictures everyoneJuly 6, 2018 at 7:01 pm #651677Catching a be in flight is not an easy task. Nor is getting a shot of lerps.
It may be easier to try something that stands still for a bit.
July 6, 2018 at 9:03 pm #651699these are amazing. love the hovering bee and the others

July 7, 2018 at 8:50 pm #651711This is one of those topics where you just have to stay up with it or it gets away from you. Hey, I am NOT complaining. Some of the most recent ones are through the roof awesome.
Peter, Lovely translucent wings on the last bee. The grasshopper mimicking the texture of the tree bark blows me away. Your forte is close up nature shots. You are one of the best. And that flower, wow, every petals is perfectly clear.
Dave, I actually really like your bee in motion shot because of the perspective from which it was taken. You usually see a bee in mid air, but not flying away from you showing off its aerodynamic streamline formation. Now, that’s cool.
Little Dreamer,
Thanks for joining us. That one bug looks like a clump of lint from my dryer. How cool is that?Photography is the art of observation. It has little to to with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them. Elliott Erwitt

The lerp insect is interesting yes. Part of the aboriginal diet. Thanks but I’m a long way from one of the best. I could show you my pile of missed opportunities.
July 7, 2018 at 9:43 pm #651680As for forté, Well I’ve made a lot of mistakes so have been attempting to make it that for a number of decades, without really using expensive equipment and attempting as much as possible to use natural light and hand held shots. A very time consuming hobby.
