This is great. You are all so brave and very tallented. I haven’t done a self portrait in a long while but they are fun. Maybe I will try it again or post the old one with the new! Jen

Hi Beth,
yes your right about the photo, I look far too miserable when concentrating so prefer to copy from a happy photo:) . Not watercolour but oils, the image I have posted is a little blurry. Its part of a larger painting, a collage of 12 portraits I did last year called a portrait of a summers day.

I haven’t worked in awhile on anything, so I think I might try out a self-portrait soon for this. I got a bunch of canvases that I want to use too, might try a painting (I haven’t painted in forever). I should probably challenge myself even more and work with a mirror rather than a photo.

I’m hoping to post a self portrait also. I have 3 that I have done in the last few months, I may post one of those while working on a new one. Really enjoying seeing the portraits that have been posted so far.

Larubia, I really love your self portrait. The sky, the coat, everything about it is really captivating. Looking forward to seeing the progress!

Such a fun thread to look through. I usually try to avoid front views, but here is one from last spring. Oil 40×30

This is one I did (obviously from a photo lol) a few years ago now, in watercolour.
Will challenge myself to do a ‘live’ one in front of the mirror this year.

Spent about 10 more minutes this morning- I wanted to get the eyes finished. Sorry about the wet shine on this. Hope it dries fast- I want to display this on Saturday as part of our portrait exhibition.

Hey, Steve! I think I may have to do a “happy” photo one next- she looks a bit serious! :confused:
Annemarie– so happy you are joining us! I have been inspired by your self portraits! This one has such an interesting feel to it- telling a story. Secret agent? :thumbsup:
