Welcome to Hunt # 693!!
If you’ve participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one we would really appreciate it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting schedule in the Art From Life forum here:: https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/topic/scavenger-hunt-hosting-sign-up-2020
** EyePaint made a new hosting sign up thread on May 22, 2020 **
Here are the rules for the hunt:
*All items on the list must be sketched from life – not imagination or photo reference.
*Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.
*You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count these objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one item.
*All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.
*Do as many or as few of the items as you like. You don’t have to finish the entire list to participate. The Scavenger Hunt “week” will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.
*Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you for each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome.
*** If you have some hunt sketches completed but little time to read/comment, please post your sketches anyway. Commenting is appreciated but not requiredScavenger Hunt #693: Sept 07 to Sept 15

September 8, 2021 at 7:26 am #1433627I went to the hospital for another check-up today. Jotted this stretcher+pillow+oxygen mini tank down within 3 min. during a walk by the hospital corridor … Thai people at the hospital, we mostly wear 2 layers of masks some wear an extra face shield too, try to be quick to avoid Covid-19 exposure.
#3 Oxygen — a minitank by the stretcher’s side
#4 Restful — though I don’t want to be on it…
September 8, 2021 at 7:45 am #1433633Ai, good job on the alphabet stamps. Cute elephant vase…I like the simple style to it. Good use of the walnut ink. You were smart to make use of your time at the hospital and sketch the oxygen tank and stretcher. Hope you had good results.
EP, fun scrabble tiles. I like your hairy dog brush and the simple, economical lines on the banana.
1 – restful garden view – watercolors and oil pastels
2 – joyous lunch spot – watercolors and ink

You have done wonderful job in colors, details, depth, atmosphere, and shadows. I love your variety of subjects too… from shops, garden, museum, …and to the beach. Just perfect !!! How big were each sketch and how long did it took you to do each.
Joe1: Thank you.
September 8, 2021 at 8:57 am #1433646Thanks for the list, EP.
Ai – Delicate work with the blocks drawing, and I love the elephant! Such wonderful lines for the rounded shapes – and I really like the tone of the walnut ink. I don’t use browns enough – must try to correct that! Very strong quick sketch of the stretcher and oxygen – fab, bold lines.
EP – Great work with all the number and details and the squares – I love having the bendy banana sit alongside all the straight lines, lovely touch of fun.
Joan – Two beautiful views, and I enjoy both styles. Wonderful painting picking out the shapes and colours of the garden flowers and foliage, and I love the clever use of the red to tie everything together in the second sketch.
#1 – Yield – Cut field. Messing about with black stuff for quick monochrome sketches. Artgraf/Inktense (block & pencil)/Nero stick. A2.
