Good morning and Happy November!
So, who all took on the Inktober challenge? I admire those who did. Sounds like such a fun challenge – one of these times, I’d love to give it a shot. This month is the famed NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), which was easily one of the most daunting and demanding challenges I’ve ever done. But talk about good memories! I’ve done it only once, but it instilled in me a love of writing that was always somewhat there already. I just finished writing my third book in the Zeke’s Fate series (Zeke’s Fate being my NaNoWriMo book, and also Bicker and the Soolivans) – now to proodread, edit, edit, and edit some more.
Hi Jo. I’m sorry you’re having trouble getting the November Monthly Challenge posted! I hope it works later. If not, let me know and we’ll try and get it figured out for you. I always look forward to your challenges. On that note, thank you for hosting for us! Congratulations on tackling Inktober! I like your pumpkin sketch! Also, the sky photo is really beautiful too!
Hi Kay. I hope you’re well and enjoying the cooler fall weather.
Hello to everyone else around here! I hope you have a great week!

November 1, 2021 at 9:28 am #1444230Hi, Jenna, thanks for the campfire. Yes, I did the Inktober. It isn’t too far a stretch for me as I do the Scavenger Hunts and almost sketch everyday. Some of the prompts I could double up one sketch for both forums. I’m happy it is done, though, deadlines are not my thing. I can sketch everyday but when I “have to” sketch everyday it is a pain. Ha.
You are doing so well with your writing. Good for you. Will be waiting for the new books. Thanks for the thoughtful comments all the time.
Kay did Inktober. Kay you do so much sketching and painting and still have time to post all over the place and comment back. Thank you so much.
Hope to see everyone here soon. I got the challenge for November posted.
Coffee time now. A bagel this morning.

My website https://jocastilloart.comNovember 3, 2021 at 9:54 am #1444568Good morning to the Campfire! I hope you’re all doing just great! How about pancakes for breakfast? Drizzled with butter and syrup, with some yummy sausage links on the side? Hot coffee? Cocoa? Orange juice? Fruit smoothies? (I want to go out for breakfast now…it seems the skimpy bowl of Lucky Charms I had aren’t quite that satisfying. )
Hi Jo. I’m proud of you for taking on Inktober! That’s so wonderful! Daily drawing and sketching is such a good habit to establish, and I know you’ve been doing the Scavenger Hunts for a long time. So glad you keep that up! Thank you very much for the sweet comments about my writing. Though I’ve got a lot of company to expect this month (gun deer season and also Thanksgiving), along with the Mabel Tainter Holiday Artisan Market, the writer in me is getting drawn in to the tempting NaNoWriMo craze, and the book I’m currently working on, a different series about all different characters than my other books, is demanding to get written in the midst of it all. I’d like to have that first draft done by the end of November, but only time will tell if I can manage that.
Hello to everyone else around here. A crisp, cold 20 degrees overnight, so now the land is whitened by frost and it is quite stunning. A good day to stay in and work on art show preparations. Have a great and creative day everyone!

November 6, 2021 at 10:40 pm #1445089Hi Jenna, you have a busy month ahead. Wishing you the best on your show. Thanks for keeping this campfire going. Looks like not many folks are hanging around. Your campfire breakfast does sound better than Lucky Charms. Ha. Thanks for keeping the campfire going. Maybe the others will come late. Best also on completing all your tasks. I’m tired reading about all you do.
I have quit watching so many Hallmark movies and trying to paint. Nothing finished to show here, but soon. We have the best weather 40s at night and 80 in the afternoon. I better get out and do some plein air instead of sitting on the porch.
Good to hear from you, Jenna. Hope there are some lurkers and artists around. Miss everyone.

My website https://jocastilloart.comNovember 15, 2021 at 12:46 pm #1446435I think I am bowing out from WC at the end of the month when the SW challenge ends. I hate to do that, but it is so frustrating. I’m posting mostly on CreativeSpark and my blog and website. I gave up on other social media except for Pinterest but I don’t post often there. I like being in control of what I do, I don’t even like apps because they change all the time. I am going to have to upgrade my iMac and am resisting as they use apps so much. Our internet is awful so updating apps and working online is a pain.
Enough grumbling. Some spam and eggs and toast with some good strong coffee for the campfire. Hope to paint this afternoon, yikes, it is already afternoon.
Hope to see all y’all around.

My website https://jocastilloart.comNovember 16, 2021 at 9:21 am #1446510Hi Jo. Well, it seems you and I are the lonely only ones around here anymore. Now that it seems most everyone else has moved on, the truth of losing WetCanvas has really sunk in, and I find myself feeling brokenhearted. I did ask about starting a Southwest/Western channel over at Creative Spark, but Artyczar – most understandably – was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the sudden deluge of members from WetCanvas wanting to make this forum or add this option to turn Creative Spark into the “new WetCanvas.” I can imagine there’s a whole lot of responsibility for Artyczar right now, so I’m not sure if a Southwestern/Western forum will happen. In the meantime, I plan to spend more time at Creative Spark. It’s been just an incredibly hectic time here getting ready for shows, as well as a couple of weeks of company for hunting and Thanksgiving, so I’ve been scarce all over the internet.
It is most understandable that you plan to let WetCanvas go, Jo. I don’t blame you a bit, and I’ll soon be following suit. I hope all of us who have been friends here can keep in touch in some form. It is sad to see this place go. I have many great memories linked to WetCanvas, and will miss it dearly.

November 16, 2021 at 9:01 pm #1446559Hi Jenna, You are so right. We have made some lasting friendships and learned a lot on this forum. I’m always excited for your writing and shows. Hope your Thanksgiving is great. We have our big day on Friday. Jennie turns 47 (yikes) on Wednesday so we will celebrate that and Thanksgiving at her house on Friday. We aren’t turkey eaters and have always eaten it just because. A few years ago we decided to eat things we enjoy more. Ha. Brandon will smoke a brisket and we will have lots of trimmings including pumpkin and pecan pies. Birthday cake, too, I imagine.
I’m missing all the regulars in the forums I followed faithfully. Pastels and plein air. I hadn’t posted much as I haven’t been painting, but still….. Happy to see many on CS.
Blessings to you and yours for a Happy Thanksgiving.
Later…..Hugs.

My website https://jocastilloart.comNovember 23, 2021 at 1:38 pm #1447427Hi Jo. Indeed, there have been so many friendships formed here at WetCanvas. In fact, I even heard that two people met on here and ended up getting married. How cool is that? Thank you so much for the wonderful comments. The show was pretty good…a little slow compared to most years there, but it was still good. I hope your Thanksgiving is great too! Sounds like you’ve got your plans all made. We’ve got the family here this week for deer hunting and they’ll stay through Thanksgiving, so it’s been busy, but nice. I like that you’re breaking tradition and eating what you actually want to eat for Thanksgiving! I seriously respect that.
I so miss hearing from the others around here too. There are so few left. Feels lonesome, doesn’t it? But I need to interact more at Creative Spark, because I know a lot of us are over there too.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

My website https://jocastilloart.comDecember 1, 2021 at 9:43 am #1448198Good morning Jo.
I understand, and feel, too, that it will soon be time for me to say goodbye to this site. I’m sad to see it go, but it is what it is.
I look forward to spending more time with you all at Creative Spark. Thankful we have that as an option, because if you can’t share your artwork with other artists, what is the point of it anyway? Take care, all, and thank you for all the memories and friendships. I cherish them all. :grouphug:

December 2, 2021 at 9:43 am #1448420Jenna and Jo, please accept my apologies for not posting in this thread more. I do try to limit my time online, esp. chat. as it is really a time suck. I am totally gutted by the loss of WC. Plus I have been dealing with a lot at home here for quite a while. I echo your sentiments exactly; no one can ever take from us what we have learned and experienced at WC. CS is a great site, and I’m sure it will build. Even if you don’t start a Western forum per se, you can always do a monthly challenge in All Media Events with that theme, if that is ok with TBPB. Of course, Ayin and Hannah are overwhelmed now, and are doing what they can. Note they are quite irked about the constant references of WC. I did point out that I understand they stand alone, but members are merely suggesting what has been enjoyable for us here.

C & C encouraged!December 4, 2021 at 9:33 am #1448658Hi Joy. It’s so nice to hear from you. I know how you feel; it’s heartbreaking to be losing WetCanvas. It’s a lonesome feeling to know it won’t always be here to bring cheer and friendship and smiles to our lives. But you’re right, Creative Spark has great potential, too, so that’s a comfort. Glad to see you pop in, Joy.
