Hey Everyone,

It’s been super busy here lately. But, I have found time to finish the painting for my friends. they stayed at this hotel in Italy 3 years in a row for about a week time.

Super painting, love the variety of greens. What is the location?

Hi Doug,

Thanks! I mix my greens in small piles. This is a 16×20″, so every time I would run out of green, I had to mix more and it helps create subtle variations in the greens. Somewhere in Italy. My friend said that their balcony over looked the Tuscan valley. It used to be a monastery and has been converted into a hotel. I did a quick search on the internet and I think this is the hotel. Hotel Certosa Di Maggiano.

Thanks Donald. The reason I asked is that when I first started painting I painted a view of a similar monastery viewed for the hillside vineyard. I never found the location and I have mislaid the painting.

Jo, thanks! I’m glad you like it. It is a gallery wrapped canvas and I wrapped the painting around the edge, I also had fun using impasto in the foreground to create more depth and details in the painting. I don’t normally paint with a lot of impasto, but I have to admit, that was fun.
