There was another thread on this subject but I wanted to add another different art form – sculpture!
Here’s an example of someone who does 3-d paper sculptures. I thought it could give some of us ideas about how to use paper that didn’t make it as worthy for prints.
Brian, I thought you would really like the wild bird sculptures.
As another option which I think is in the other string, I made rolled paper beads and earrings out of a print in a Bob Siegelman workshop challenge. He challenged us to repurpose something we made in a monotype class.

I had a similar idea myself but have been thinking more along the line of thinner papers which I produce for the purpose to get a transparent quality – however am still only in the playing stage as time is not at my disposal at the moment lol. There’s something about birds that is so compelling – it must be their enviable flight powers, although the flightless ones are just as enchanting. Love ’em!
I have started using my reject prints for collage and it’s great fun allowing the original images to add something unexpected to a new composition. Fi

Those are amazing paper sculptures. Puts me in a “why-do-I-bother?” mood.

September 8, 2010 at 8:25 am #1142453I thought these would strike a note! No more throwing out of paper! Jerry why did these make you suicidal? It is only paper! :o) But now you can never throw paper away, the pressure to use those scraps is on!!!

http://atomic-surf-arts.blogspot.com/September 10, 2010 at 10:41 am #1142455Wow! That’s talent on a whole different scale than what I thought I might see. My wife re-purposes my bad prints into her collage and assemblage, but that was amazing!
September 18, 2010 at 12:38 pm #1142459Her work is amazing – thanks for sharing it! I’m making paper out of my mis-prints and scraps. I’m going to make cards out of it. In fact, that’s exactly what I’m doing this morning.
