        This looks like a LOT of work to render a photo exactly.

        It is a lot of work, but I deviated from the photo a fair bit. The details in the doorway (comprising the painting’s background) is almost entirely made up. Lot’s of deviations from the placement of the stones as well. I also left out elements that were in the photo, but which did not contribute to the composition in a positive way. I didn’t care about creating a photo-realistic copy of a photo. That is never my goal. I cared only about capturing the spirit of the dwelling and of Terlingua and about creating something that is pleasing to the eye. I certainly hope that I’ve done that.

        You’re right, though. It is a lot of work.
