Vincent says he would never buy another Acer lol. But for regular use they might be ok. I don’t care for HP. Asus is a pretty good brand. But I guess all computers will wear out over time.

I hope all goes well with your appointment.

I think I’m slowly getting better. I did manage to dig up the potatoes. The night have been frosty but yesterday it was 26 C in the afternoon. It actually felt too hot, I was sweating by the time I finished. Good thing I didn’t plant much.

I poured another pumpkin jar. It was supposed to be simple this time but I managed to make things difficult. I decided to coat my coaster first and that took too long and then the resin was getting very thick.

Hubby came home again and he’s still sick, though maybe now he caught what Vincent had which is probably what I have. I’m pretty sure the two of them caught different colds. Maybe I got both.

We have only ever had Macs for the last 20+ years, so I can’t comment on Acer, or any other PC.

I understand the feeling of being overwhelmed, Maureen. It is one thing after another with a home and its contents.

Hope you’re all feeling better soon, Michelle. What a nuisance. My sister and brother-in-law have had to cancel out of Thanksgiving as my BIL has been very sick with some bug—3 days in bed. Very unlike him. We’ll still have my nephew and his wife over. And then our friends will come to us on Monday for leftover turkey. We’ll get through it somehow.

Glad to hear your wife made it there safely. Hope she has a good time.

Hubby and I are both coughing, but he made plans for us to go out for supper with friends at a restaurant at one of the lakes. We haven’t been there at all this year. We also need to pack up the camper.

I managed to see the northern lights couple nights ago when I took the dog out. I called Vincent out to see them. They were all over the sky like a big dome streaking down from the middle, and sometimes swirling. And such pink patches, I’ve never seen anything like it.

Glad your DW arrived safely Colin … and sad that your sister and b i l will miss the special day/dinner with you. I hope he recovers soon. I’m sure the rest of you will enjoy a lovely meal though … plus the leftovers next day!

Michelle, hope you still enjoy your meal with friends…. but get well soon🥰

The Aurora was spectacular here too … super pictures posted and my niece got some nice ones too, from their garden. I couldn’t see anything here … might have done around 1am if I’d got dressed and walked up the hill!

My eye tests went well and they’ve just rung me to say specs are ready, so I’ll collect them on Monday. The optician said all healthy and pretty good … except the cataract in one eye has now ‘crossed the line’ that allows me yo have it removed! As I’m not noticing much difference, I’ll wait a bit longer!

Had my scan on Thursday and that too went well. They were looking at my liver but the nice thing was, the radiographer said she couldn’t see anything sinister, but still need to study the images further, as normal. It’s unusual they tell you anything, but I was really grateful to hear that … maybe their policy has changed a bit. Joan drove me so I wouldn’t need to search for parking, so we went to a nice hotel for coffee afterwards. I realised, by the sudden feeling of ‘ lightness’, how tense I’ve been lately! I can now relax …. at least until my doc calls me in to discuss the ‘whatever she thinks could be happening’ results!😉 ….. I just say I’m getting ancient!😂😂

Funny day here weather-wise … cold! Spent hours re-setting my late sister’s computer so I can take it for recycling. Got it packed up and will take it away next week … so I’ve now reclaimed the study desk and done some filing! Then I’ll search seriously for a replacement for my old one and try to get that cleaned and recycled too.

    Have a nice weekend all!

    Cheers, Maureen

    Happy Thanksgiving to the Canucks!

Maureen glad that was some good news from the technician. They don’t say much with us, either.

Michelle that is great you were able to see the Northern Lights. We had clouds the time I looked out, so nothing visible. I did see them a few months ago when the sky was clear and there were some of the pink tones, but being further north and a stronger display, (and maybe less urban light). I am sure they were awesome.

There is an old astronomical observatory on a hill nearby, built in the early 1900s when the area was still undeveloped. It is a regional park, now.

Hope you’re not too sick to enjoy the holiday.

I’ve been up since first light. Made a soda bread and the base for two types of stuffing (meat-eaters and vegetarian), whipped some cream for the make-your-own-trifle and just got the potatoes peeled and chopped. I need my better half back!

She says she is having a nice visit with our son and they are off to a lake to the west of Tokyo today. I was going to say “outside” Tokyo but I don’t think there is such a thing within commuting distance, so I assume it is in the urban agglomeration but maybe near the edges. Like Neptune would be to our solar system.

    Stay well, all.

    Happy Thanksgiving fellow Canadians!

Maureen, nice that you got past your appointments and can maybe relax a bit. Maybe even paint something.

Colin, I hope your meal went well.

We did go to the restaurant on Saturday. I ordered ribs and got a full rack, I maybe ate a third of it. And then hubby and I stayed the night in the camper and got it ready to be moved. Yesterday we had supper with my parents and this year my mom got a smoked turkey. It was very good and I brought quite a bit of it home. So I won’t have to cook much for a few days.

I don’t know if I have to go anywhere today, I hope not. I just want to craft or maybe figure out what to paint for the DS project.

Hi all, glad you’re feeling better Maureen and Michelle. Glad the DW made it to Toyko safely. I’m sure she’s having a lot of fun!

We saw the northern lights here too, it was lovely. We saw the comet last night too. Tonight we’re going to get milkshakes and watch it from a local park which is up on a big hill.

All done with jury duty. We can get called once a year in Illinois. Federally you can be called once every two years but most people are never called at all.

Because of the hurricane, my inlaws friends couldn’t help them move. They didn’t want to wait until my son and his friends were off work so my husband said how bad can it be. They told us they had gotten rid of most of their furniture.

We ended up unpacking a 28 ft trailer that was packed to the roof. We did it in two and a half hours and we’ve been sore since then lol.

Their house sale in Florida was delayed until after the Hurricane, they didn’t have any damage but the mortgage company wants another inspection to ensure that it didn’t. Makes sense to me but was upsetting for them.

I better get painting my DS,  it’s been so busy I haven’t even started yet. Hope everyone is well.

I didn’t see the comet but I saw a pretty big orange moon yesterday.

I still have a sore throat and hubby is still coughing too. And last night Vincent’s throat started hurting again. I’m letting him stay home today.

I think I’m slowly getting better though, and trying to be more productive. Tuesday we brought the camper home and took some stuff out of it. Yesterday morning I sorted receipts and after lunch I did some garden clean up. It got pretty full of weeds and dill so it took a couple of hours to do one long strip. It was warm and sunny though. Should be another warm day and I hope to get another section cleaned up.

Virginia, I hope we both get time to start painting. I have a piece of paper ready and an idea, sort of. I found a picture I like on pixabay, just thinking about how I want to approach this and if I want to add something.

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians (I’m a little late).

I missed out on the Northern Lights. They were supposed to be visible where I’m visiting in California, but I didn’t know about it so didn’t know to go look. :-(

        Saw some nice pictures though

Hope you had a good Thanksgiving TK. I missed the Northern Lights too because of the clouds.

The moon has been very beautiful, though, so that kind of makes up for it.

Great fall day here. The leaves are turning and falling. The sun is out and still has a little strength.

Finally started on my DS pumpkin painting. Might put it out doors for Hallowe’en instead of a carved Jack-o-lantern.

Didn’t see the comet but the sky cleared last night to see the moon.

Virginia, I do hope that’s the last of the ‘bother’ your in-laws give you! Crikey, if that’s their idea of ‘not much’I wonder what their idea of a full load would be!! You both did a Stirling job unpacking that lot!

Colin, hope the Thanksgiving meal went well for you and hope your b-i-l is ok now.

Michelle, that virus is hanging around and unwelcome…. take care.

        Hi TK.

I’ve had a busy week, eventful but I won’t bore you with that … the worst part is my d-i-l suddenly collapsing with pneumonia on Tuesday night ( just feeling off-colour that day), being rushed into Critical Care and not expected to survive. Staff were still surprised when she made it through Wed night … she is fully sedated, on a ventilator and a blood cleansing machine… but they have eventually managed to raise her BP to an acceptable level and, provided these small improvements continue,  might be able to start bringing her out of the sedation in a week’s time. Unfortunately, I can’t be there because it’s too far for me to drive these days, alone. Thankfully, her sister took their mother down yesterday, but needs to return today. Anyway, she got through last night in a stable condition and slight BP improvement.

        Fingers crossed!

I wish I could be there but it’s not feasible … I’m just so much better at being ‘useful’ than I am waiting for the phone or texts!!

        Take care all!

        Cheers, Maureen

Sounds serious but promising? Other than that, I hope things are settling down for you Maureen.

I did not get any painting done yesterday. I started on adding up receipts in the morning (that time again). Trying to get an early start so I can take my time. After lunch I cleaned another strip of the garden. Then my mom wanted me to take her to her friend’s house and we visited a bit. Not long after that it was time to start supper, and also had to go outside and help hubby a bit, string out hoses and stuff so he could pressure wash the pontoon. I brought in a cooler that was on there, it had canned drinks, ice, and containers of minnows. He said the drinks are still good so I brought it in and tried to wash the fishy smell out while supper was cooking. Supper was easy by the way… ground beef, spaghetti sauce, and penne.

We watched tv a bit in the evening and then it was bedtime. This morning Vincent is still complaining about a sore throat and didn’t want to go to school. I guess they shouldn’t go when they’re sick but I don’t want him to miss too much. If he gets this lingering sore throat he’ll have to go next week anyway.

It looks like it will be nice today but I’m considering taking and arts and crafts day.

Thanks Michelle but, sadly, it was not to be.

Helen, my d-in-l, suddenly took a turn for the worse late last night, BP plummeted and she immediately had a cardiac arrest. The staff tried all they could but to no avail. Paul (my stepson) rang me at 1.15am, still at the hospital, so I’m not sure whether it was announced before or after midnight. She was only 54 …. much too young.. As they don’t know what initially caused her illness, there may well be a PM – autopsy.

        Cheers, Maureen

I’m so sorry for your loss Maureen. That is too young.

I’ve been watching season 6 of The Crown and in one part the queen is talking to Charles and says you 50 year old youngsters. I’m holding on to that for a while.

Things have been pretty quiet here except on Friday, we went to the Ducks Unlimited supper. Spent too much and ate too much, as usual. We did win a few prizes though.
