July 1, 2018 at 5:46 pm #651590Woo hoo, poutine. Sampled it once in Montreal and didn’t have a cardiac event.
A painting is never really done as long as I can get my hands on it.

OK – I haven’t mentioned our weather for ages – cos we’re having a heatwave …. well, it’s only around 22-25C here but in the south hovering upper 20s to low 30sC ……… I have a brown lawn and wilting plants. There are fires on the moors with firefighters and the army trying to control them (must be awful living in the vicinity with all the smoke etc) …… reservoirs are low and hosepipes banned in parts of the country.
See? – we complain about rain ……. and when it’s hot, we long for some rain!!!!!Cheers, Maureen

The thermometer outside says 26C here atm – but there’s a coolish breeze – courtesy of our North Sea so it doesn’t feel that hot … wind chill!:lol:Cheers, Maureen

July 3, 2018 at 8:02 pm #651625Hi all,
Firstly Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate ( we dont here in Aus)
Is there a thread where you can discuss progress in acrylics.I bought some acrylics and started working on a naive painting which I dont see much naive in wc. ??
I purchased Rob Hain about 10 years ago and when I look around my house, I guess that is the style I like best as that is what I have hanging on my walls in the family room.
I have not used acrylics before and spent the day trying out colours that work together ( they are very different to watercolours)
So, is there a section for naive work.?
Is there a section for advice and critiscism.?I am not trying to copy or emulate Rob Hain, and various naive artists work, but I always had the idea of doing local scenes in naive style and I have been around my district and taken a heap of photos and drawn out scenes that I would like to paint. I purchased acrylics because the first naive painting I tried I did it in watercolour, but the softness of the colours did not give it that punch…. although it worked out beaut.
Thank you in advance.
kind regards Merriweather.Painting is a complete distraction. I know of nothing which, without exhausting the body, more entirely absorbs the mind. Winston Churchill
