Thank you Maureen and you are most welcome. ❤️
Just don’t want to lose all of you.
Let us keep going and keep being active.Thank you everyone let’s continue with October’s PPP.
October 6, 2023 at 1:19 pm #1528295LIL, I really love your fresh, colorful version.
I wish I could comment on all of them
This is very late, and quite a disappointment. It would have been better to leave the BG white, but the flower still does not look very good. My ref photo printed out a lot darker than the image on my screen. I wanted to get varied values and tones of the violet, but so much of it looked the same on the reference. This is an 11 x 8 watercolor on Hahnemühle Agave paper, which is very soft and tears easily. At least I tried.

In other words most of it is middle value. So you can add darks. If that makes any sense.

October 6, 2023 at 4:06 pm #1528313Kay, thinking the same, that the BG is not dark enough. I have nothing to lose by making it darker.

Although one is not “supposed’ to use black, I find if evenly applied, it can make a good BG, as it did in a recent portrait in the WC challenge. I also added a glaze of quin rose to some areas. I still rarely leave enough white paper, as often it looks unnatural to me compared to the ref. I must strive to be more creative.

You could also use the red-purple mix along with thalo green in your bg for a cohesive painting.

C & C always welcome.

More BG color variation was my original intention, but it looked too splotchy to me. I would post on WC more, but now every time I sign in I have to “prove I am not a robot” by clicking off objects in a grid. It has nothing to do with clearing the cache, cookies, etc., as that does not remedy it. This does not happen on my tablet, only on the iMac desktop.
