Thanks Kay, and for a good selection too. These pods always make me think of something alien!?

            Cheers, Maureen

                    Lovely Christel.

I did two buds. Each is about 5″x7″, ink and watercolor, XL Mix Media sketchbook.

These ended up being a lot more fun to do than I expected.

It was especially interesting to try and figure out how to get each seed raised up a little.  I’m not sure how successful the soft one in the background is. This paper doesn’t do wet in wet very well which is what I was trying to do there. I think another time I would just work with a very watery color and soften the edges. I like this paper for the inking but not as much for the watercolor but when using this technique, it’s always a trade off for one medium or the other.

Thanks for hosting this month Kay.

Christel, I’m loving your take on the white petals, so elegant :yahoo:

Anne, you’ve explored all curves and dips, darks  and lights with these renditions of the dried pods. Super :yahoo:

Here’s mine, 15×22″ watercolor (Daniel Smith paints) on Kilimanjaro 140 lb cold press paper. Fell in love with its abstract background and the lone lotus pod pointing the way into the composition.

Nice work Kay. The abstract background worked well here. Love the contrast of soft and hard edges.

Thanks for your comment on mine.
