Maureen….ah yes…now I remember why I bowed out…;lol;…after the yellow roses, I have had my fill of yellow for a bit!!
April…she made it look soooooooooo easy…haha…maybe with lots of practice…maybe…?
Here’s a thought…with all the wind here…I have been trying to figure out how to paint the wind? I suppose you’d have to show the effects…a leave twirling in the wind or a kite? not easy…then you’d have to find a ref photo that showed the ‘invisible’ as well…hmmm
Pam…hope you are feeling better now! As Maureen said…jump in when you can!
Whew….37 photos later…with a bit of manipulation…lordy! At least this somewhat looks like what I have now…played with darkening and lightening adding and subtracting colors till I felt like I was cooking…
Sorry, I did not even think to take a shot when it was scraped down almost to the canvas again…they looked really odd…all patchy, with black and red and yellow and white…
Now to see what I can play with today…

Cheers, Maureen

[/CENTER]March 26, 2013 at 8:31 am #1197120Susan, if I can, I scan because photos are often difficult because of light issues!
I’ll even do up to 8 scans, in parts, and crop and stitch them! As long as my A4 scanner can reach the centre of a piece, I’m OK …… obviously this limits me to roughly 16 x 20 at the most.***************
Should remind everyone to subscribe to these threads in case they are knocked off the front page:lol:

I’ll be gentle
Susan- it looks great! I like the feathery ends of the petals.
Haven’t painted in a few days (sssslacker). I’ve been working some, but tomorrow looks promising. I’ll have my youngest, Jared with me (almost 14 yrs old), he’s started a painting & wants to learn my bg’s. So while he’s doing that, I’ll be painting tulips.

Oscar WildeMarch 26, 2013 at 9:54 am #1197154Maureen…I always did scan…but somehow since the move, my scanner works iffy at best…and I often end up with only one or two pieces…sigh…plus most of my canvases are 18×24, which is a pain to put together… I do miss my scanner!
Thanks April! Can’t wait to see yours and would be interesting to see your son’s work too.

Find me on FacebookMarch 26, 2013 at 3:27 pm #1197189Well I’ve plowed through the ugly stage and I’m at a place where I like what I’ve got. Not sure if I’m finished but I’m going to let it rest before deciding.
This is 9 x 12 on cradled board.
Let’s see what you all think.
Colin, I like how you finished yours. Really lovely. I really like all the colors you have in your blossoms.
April Joy, yours is really looking good! That vase is perfect!
Susan, I liked the first red painting and I also really like the redo! The blossoms glow with light!
This has really been fun! I’m not totally sold on painting over black but I can see how it is easier to do than I would have thought before. As for our next project, I’d love to do another landscape since that is one of my weakest subjects, but I’ll go along with whatever everyone decides.
I’ve got a painting drawn out for one of my grandsons whose birthday is about a month from now. I hope to finish it in time to mail for the big day, 14 years old! A really important birthday! So, I need to start working on that too. Good thing I really LOVE painting!

I would be perfectly happy with a landscape too. Glass, fur and clowns in bi-planes can wait.

March 26, 2013 at 4:17 pm #1197121Judy – this came out really well – it’s lovely!
I agree with Colin – flowers=impact!
I also like the way they fill most of the area – more than in the ref – that’s nice  …… and those whites against the sky blue – stunning!Cheers, Maureen
