Jacqui, good going there. The dirigible itself looks alive!
I copied a few. Bamboo pen with Chinese ink. Some places has Chinese brush.
This one is ball pen. I am in general very impatient with ball pen and you could tell how sloppy it is.

http://jacquipetersen.com/March 12, 2012 at 8:44 am #1157203Good work, Sandra. Glad you are doing some of his fairy tale illustrations and I love that house. Imagine living in that.
Jacqui, like the loose feel of your sketch and the snooty look on the dirigible.
Here is a quick sketch inspired by what I have seen of his work:

March 22, 2012 at 8:04 am #1157224This is a work in progress. It looks rather chaotic right now but my friend June suggested I try using white like Henry Moore’s underground drawings (I’ve posted on of those here) So …..I have some time this morning to fool around with this ……I’ll be back………..

http://jacquipetersen.com/March 22, 2012 at 12:46 pm #1157226Thanks Jacqui though the proportions are very askew – some in the distance people are too big and some in foreground are too small……
Here’s the finish – the color is way off…. the blue and yellow are right but the white hardly shows up AND it is on HOT PINK paper!!!! but you get the gist

http://virtualparsnip.blogspot.com/March 22, 2012 at 2:38 pm #1157205These are wonderful, Robin. Doesn’t matter what size your characters are, it all works.
I love the Underground pictures by Moore and am still trying to figure out how he did the ink, wax, color effect. There is a book on the Underground work, but it’s very expensive.
