As fall spreads over the land, a chill breeze starts to turn the leaves to fiery colors and the grass to dried earth tones. Here, we see a pair of old sycamores at the edge of a scrubby forest. These ancient guardians have been here far longer than the young trees around them, and they face yet another coming winter stoically. Low light plays across their gnarled, pale trunks, and their leaves glow with copper colors before blowing away in the cold wind.

Oh, this is lovely! I especially like the soft colors you did.

Those two trees look like old friends!

Everything else being equal, I would rather be in the painting zone.

Would that we all could age so beautifully.  Especially nice work on the trunks.  Gary

Pity, I cannot see the picture, and seems it was worth looking at.

Shades of Zane Grey with your poetry! Picture’s pretty, too! :bye:

OK, thanks, I see them now. It looks very nice to me, the undergrowth gives it a touch of hope and despair at the same time, don’t know if I’m making a fool of myself.

Thanks for the kind words! The undergrowth does add some hope even as the fall colors are more somber. The trees are just taking a nap as far as they are concerned, and they’ll be awake again next spring.

Matthew, wonderful color palette. The trees have great texture and they seem almost to be communicating with each other.  Foreground and background give a nice contrast to the tree subjects.

Matthew: your two old friends and standing out from the background majestically :good: .  Love the muted grey pallet with warm feel from the gold, balanced by the cool blue and grey.
