I am painting a series of watercolors that I plan to make into note cards to resell. At this point I am taking photos of the paintings and saving as jpegs rather than scanning. When these are printed onto cardstock, the “edge” of the photo is distinct, as the unpainted white paper of the photo in the image I’m printing is not the same color as what I’m printing onto. I need to get rid of this, in other words I only want the painted area to be seen on the card, and the white of the card to be the only background. My paintings have spatters, soft backgrounds etc. so they are not anything with a distinct edge. Can anyone help, I’m sure this is a digital thing. I own photoshop elements, no scanner yet altho I can get one if that is how it’s done? Help!

You will have to use a programme such as LibreOffice Presentation or a paint program such as Paintshop Pro and crop the picture before using it to remove any edges. I also print the greetings and address inside.

I have done lots of notecards and Christmas cards on sets of pre-folded cards and envelope sets. These were done in Paintshop Pro.

The notelet set above was to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the village market.

What a wonderful job these are lovely! Do you sell them in your town?I am in Texas.  I have been watching videos on how to use layers in Photoshop Element to clean up the white paper for printing, I also see that I will get a much better pic of the painting with a good scanner rather than a camera, so I am buying one this weekend. Upward and onward:)

I simply use my phone. I can send you jpeg files of my cards if you wish.

That would be awesome, and kind of you! My email is on its way.
