My old dilemma: should I stop and maintain some of the freshness (for examples of the background) or should I add more glazes and run into the risk of overworking it…..
Your C&C and advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for looking and have a safe weekend.
It is my opinion that the eye is generally drawn to the purest color and the areas with the biggest light/dark contrast, so I would take a light wash of some dull orange over the whole background, you got the eyes good, noses are usually a lot darker in the holes

At least twice a year, paint something better than you ever painted before.
Hi Kaylen, thank you for your feedback.
I added a little bit of shading to Wilma and I worked on the nose a little bit and applied a wash to the background (mainly very diluted quina gold and a little transparent brown). I think it has improved and I will stop now.
Thanks again, this was very helpful…

What a sweet painting, Tanja. Great advice from Kaylen, and you implemented it very well. I also agree with mlaiuppa on the shading, but it is scary to keep going when your instinct is to stop…good luck!
