So sad oh my. My art store, Art Things, might not survive the stupid Coronavirus. No one is coming in. The new owner said she can’t pay the rent. It’s near the Naval Academy in Annapolis.

That little store helped me create so much over the years. I went in there yesterday and did some art supply ‘panic buying.’ It’s the only place around, none of the other large craft stores carry nearly the details. I guess it will all be online from now on and I HATE WAITING.

I bought myself 2 new Canson illustration boards, 16″X20″, now I wish I’d gotten three. Then a couple of sheets of Cason paper, which I’d bought the entire sketch book. Then I wish I’d bought a Strathmore sketch book, just in case I’m out of everything and want to do some sketches. I might have to go back!

Then I went to get some reference photos printed off at this really nice shop, High Starr Copy, and had to be waited on through their drive through window! Roll eyes.

What a shame. It sounds like a wonderful store. It seems like art supplies would be flying off of the shelves during this down time.

We live in a rural area with a small town nearby and the small businesses are suffering, as they are now in so many places. :(

I bought those same two illustration boards….online. Now to decide what to draw! Maybe if I’d purchased four, it would be easier to use one? ;)

Your right…..you may need to go back!

Feel for you and know just what its like not having supplies near by… I have to order all my art materials online either because they items arent stocked or their prices are so high that even after postage I still make very big savings….I suppose I was lucky then having no choice but to buy 5 sheets of full size pastelmat.. will keep me going for a while heay

                How sad, Karen.

I use a good shop that sells on-line as well as in-store. I expect this will be the only option in a lot of cases.

Thanks Mary Flora, Brissie and Penny

I went by again and bought a couple of more illustration boards to include two, Arches, that allow for watercolor too, since I’ve been using some of my colored pencils, Inktense and watercolor pencils, wet lately. Each time I was there, yesterday and today, only one other person in the store. I thought it would be flooded with ppl too, but I suppose everyone is saving their pennies for essentials at the moment. (also in case I want to do an acrylic background or something)

I went by my printer shop and had a couple of more reference photos printed off… my home printer isn’t good enough, they will pass items out through a window to you.

I live in a city of about 500,000 people and we have never had a decent art store, our only choices are Hobby Lobby, Michael’s and JoAnn’s, none of which every carry more than a minimal selection of over priced CP supplies, so I have always purchased online. I price check between Amazon, CheapJoe’s, Jerrysartarama, DickBlick and Ebay. However with the economic crisis now I am actually going to use up the huge hoard of what I already have! Cheers

Now that they’ve been closed down by the Governor, they can apply for a low or no interest rate loan to get through this.

                                    Are they still there?
