August 19, 2003 at 1:02 am #1013989I just asked this question for the same reason last week & am told they are NOT a student grade paint but comprable to W&N….so I am trying a few tubes to find out for myself. Their Sorte1 is the top of the line but many professional in the UK use this Studio paint of Lukas…:)
you might do a search for my thread & others before you decide.Cathleen~

Cathleen, thanks a lot! Please also let us know the exact pigment numbers if they’re given on the tubes so we can see which ones are the real pigments and which are substitutions.

August 21, 2003 at 11:15 pm #1014015Hi Guys
As promissed, I have tried Lefranc paints today. They were kinda runny at the beginning. The colors are brilliant and the texture is buttery. I think that the runny oil will stop once I start using them more often. I hope! I liked their Bright Red and Sap Green.
I bought some other brands as well, such as Holbein, Old HOlland, Rembrandt, and W&N. Unfortunaly, I just bought one color of each brand, except for Holbein, which I bought two. I didnt like Rembrandt, it was too runny. Holbein had no oil running and the color were not very glossy. But it had nice opacity. Old Holland was really pleasant as to its texture and opacity. It had a bit of oil coming out but nothing abnormal. I loved W&N. The texture was really wonderful. Not much runny oil, and it had nice buttery texture and good opacity.
The Lefranc titanium white was stiff. I read on the label that it has soybean oil instead of linseed oil.
The next paints I buy will probably be W&N.Daniel

August 22, 2003 at 6:17 pm #1014017Cathleen, I was disappointed with Jerrysartarama service. I bought some things there on last thursday and they have shipped one week after I ordered it. And just because I emailed them asking why it was taking so long.
Is there a way to track my order online?Daniel
