Well I guess it’s technically a solvent. But it seems like a heck of a waste of wine.

March 7, 2013 at 11:11 am #1181704I luv the OBM glass holder, but already lost in Crystal Cove sands here in SoCal. Likely Ill have a friend make a new one from an OBM hanger by just welding brass wire on… The OBM accessories are great, simple, light, particularly, towel holder which releases 1 sheet at a time, not allowing winds to unravel the roll. Note: the OBM 10×12″ is only 1.75lbs raw, still offering ample pallette space. Now I have a lil 8×10″ too, easily accomodates 6×12″ panels, a fave size/50% landscape ratio. Days ago, hurriedly packing up to leave, I accidentally left a 6×6 panel on the holders, closed box & left ..No problem! Kool…

March 7, 2013 at 11:19 am #1181705PS, yes, accidentally cleaned a brush in wine holder Once only …Why I would always mount on left side (Am a righty), simple, included add’l pallette goes on my right anyway.
It’s all good, but the red vino which tastes funny doin’ PA … “Better art thru wine”? Don’t believe it, but a calming effect…boomerbeach in SoCal:wave:
March 8, 2013 at 6:23 pm #1181699My OBM arrived today…sweet! Now if this torrential rain would stop, I’ll get out and play with it.

www.MChesleyJohnson.comMarch 10, 2013 at 6:07 pm #1181700I took the Open Box M out for the first time today. It worked really well, but there were a couple of things.
First, the clamping system for holding in the panels requires you to be persistent in tightening; if you don’t tighten it enough, things slip. Adding a spring to it somewhere might help, but then, springs get stretched out, so maybe it’s fine the way it is. I’ll get used to it.
Second, the palette extension tray, although it fits on the left side, won’t fit on the right side because of the hinge bracket that gets in the way. Being a rightie, fastening it on the left works just fine for me. When I got back from the field, I ended up drilling holes in the palette extension for my brush handles, and that will eliminate the need for the brush holder.
That’s it! I’m happy!
Here’s a field shot:

www.MChesleyJohnson.comMarch 11, 2013 at 6:48 am #1181706Suggest you return to OBM web to review “set-up instructions”. It IS the best system, just tighten both sides so width is about 1/4-3/8″ less than actual board width, then insert boards with pressure on the one spring-loaded left side. Too bad you didnt order OBM brush & towel holders, it is a system. While drilling brush holes in the super-light palette may work, I would think this weakens the thin board. This palette easily fits on the right if one lifts the lower bar @ Right Rear corner to insert palette, then tighten both side screws. I’d toss or sell the GP brush holder, dumb, flimsy design! When tightened down under wing nut, the OBM brush holder is SOLID & perfect in size. The simple towel-holder usually only releases 1 paper length at a time and will NOT allow the roll to unravel in winds. Glass holder easily accomodates a wider brim glass at top. All this stuff is ultra light and of simple, ingenius design …Like an Italian exotic sports car one pay$ a premium for this & less weight, but in-fact the OBM accessory is the same or little more than than competitive stuff of lesser design/utility.
