I really enjoyed looking at Roger’s paintings online, very talented artist. Lots of atmosphere in his work. I like your painting using autumn colours and also acrylics! I noticed that Roger has quite a few very small paintings on his website, maybe he also enjoys working small!

Thanks Caroline. He does a lot of plein air paintings and those tend to be smaller I believe. Gary

Excellent, subdued colors and a good “every day” composition. It may be a dreary day, but it is still pretty in its own way.

Still much to paint and much to learn!

I’ve read that all painters “borrow” from the other artists that inspire them – I know I do – and it doesn’t matter because one always will put the mark of their own personality on a painting. So I think you’re selling yourself short here!

It’s a lovely painting and works very well to describe a “dreary” day while still offering visual excitement; although they’re muted, it’s really quite colorful. I’ve noticed that sometimes when there is cloud cover, colors become more saturated, and you caught that here. I love the way the yellow mid-ground field just glows (edit: and I wrote this before I saw that John noted the same thing!). Nice one!

Thanks Annie for your kind words. It is almost fun to start on someone else’s work and build on it as long as we give credit. Gary
