Teana, you would not like the heat. 80s are cool for us. That is why we used to go to Canada in the summer. After Gene’s mom was aging we started going to the mountains in New Mexico. Now for the first time since retiring in 94 we stayed in Texas all summer in 2020 and will again this year. Thankfully we don’t have to get out and work in the heat. Today should be in the high 90s. Yikes is right. We really enjoyed our time in Canada … all of it. Our favorite for staying in one place was around Nelson. Close to about 10 golf places and a lovely cabin. For Others, Nelson is just north of Idaho in British Columbia. We did enjoy all though. From Nova Scotia to Vancouver Island. Gene biked and I painted. Good people, food and fun. I miss Tim Horton’s.

We are 34 celsius today and supposed to be up to 39 on Tuesday. I cannot be outside for more than about 20 minutes at a time. Thank goodness for the wee breeze we have. I worry about my animals the most. My cows are all black and do not seem to have the common sense to get into the shade, what little there is of it.
I can handle the -30 much better than the +30! These hot temps are good for my diet. I have no appetite. So that is a plus I guess!
Canadians are crazy about their coffee! LOL The lineups at Tim Hortons are ridiculous but worth it for the Tim Bits. Hee hee (I think you call them donut holes).
June 30, 2021 at 7:18 am #1418750Ah, good memories, Teana.
I finally got out the pastels. I could only stand for 30 minutes at a time, but pretty much finished in a few hours. I love painting with red so chose the strawberries. Pastel, 11 x 14 on Pastelbord. Berry Full. (I’ll put up the July challenge a bit later … have fun today!)

I can’t wait to see what you have lined up!

Kay – Superb sunflower!
Christel – What a beautiful frog! And I like the effects of water …
Joy – Your painting is very beautiful! For me you are a floral painter. Take time is a skill, an asset for more precision and cleanliness.
Teana – Poppies are beautiful!
Jo – These strawberries makes you want to be tasted, right away! Superb.June 30, 2021 at 6:50 pm #1418873Jo, these strawberries look delectable! I love the softness your pastels bring to your work. It’s a beautiful painting! One of the highlights, in my humble opinion, is the masterful handling of the background, which has the look of subtle woodgrain. Just enough texture to notice, but it only adds to your strawberries. Well done!

June 30, 2021 at 11:08 pm #1418919Thank you, Kay, I chose the berries because they were red. I had difficulty with the bottom of the bucket. I think I will still make it a bit rounder before I sign it. It was a good challenge.
Sand, thanks. I would have liked to have had real strawberries so I could eat the models. These in the photo look so good, right?
Jenna, thank you so much. I was just putting in color and decided to check and see how much I was going to add to the boards and they had done themselves. Ha. Not much to finish and sign….
Teana, thanks for the beautiful photos. I was happy to get some painting in.
See all y’all in the July challenge…..
