Debra,
Annie did a wonderful job on Gus with Gouache. I had posted Gus as a reference one month. I don’t remember which month but I made it a favorite and here’s a link to Annie’s Gus painting: https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showpost.php?p=17117902Since this is a wet month, I won’t post the image it here.

June 7, 2012 at 2:20 am #1164552HI Everyone!
Finally a change to catch up a bit (been watching all the posts bit no time to respond till now). WOW! WOW! This thread is taking off quick & the work everyone’s contributed is incredible.Deborah – Thank you for the information on how to proceed with the ‘Guitar Bug’ post… Sounds like a good idea to post it in the studio – I will do that (Keep your eyes open). Think I’ll find the time to make some progress on it soon:crossfingers: . Messed up my first marine attempt pretty bad so I don’t think I’ll be posting it. Maybe I can repair it but it’s unlikely.
Hal – Really like the way your shrimp boat turned out:thumbsup:
Annie – Magnificent job on your rocks and waves. Really enjoy watching the progress.
Debra – Really captured the movement of the boat great. Good job!
Ral – Your first WIP is fantastic. Thank you for showing the steps.
Robert – As usual – your bridge painting is wonderful. Love the way it all came together in the ‘final final’ I really like everything about this painting.
Annie (Again)… The 1/8 sheet is awesome! The boat (of sorts) works perfectly with the whole foggy / stormy wonderful work.. This has to be my favorite of the paintings posted so far.
Guess I’m all caught up for now… Gonna try to make it here a bit more often next time..
Fantastic, enjoyable work everyone!

Thanks Doug you’re right about the shadow I have softend it a bit more
Robert:cat:June 7, 2012 at 12:40 pm #1164265Robert, thanks for the close up shots! I suspected as much. Nice illusion. Your finish is terrific, though I’m glad to hear you softened that shadow a bit more. I see one bitty thing that pulls my eye. There is a bit of very white water on the farthest right hand side where the wave isn’t lying flat. It appears to be coming up off the sand. It’s all shape driven, and perhaps you’ve already fixed it. Awfully picky of me, but it just keeps grabbing my eye.
Lynn, I do a lot of mind painting, too! I hope you manage to set brush to paper. The thread is open through July, so there’s time!
I have one in progress but I want to finish it before posting the steps. Don’t know when that will happen.
But I sure am enjoying all the paintings and posts here, gang. Keep going!

Gouache BlogJune 7, 2012 at 2:23 pm #1164485Here’s one that someone may like to paint. It’s a little bit different from the ocean views that have been posted.
It’s not the ocean but a lake…Lake Wakatipu, in New Zealand, and that’s the TSS Earnslaw in the foreground. The Earnslaw is “The old lady of the Lake” and has been sailing on Wakatipu (and taking tourists) since 1925. A graceful, beautiful “old lady” indeed.
I have already painted this in pastel, but I’m keen to see what it looks like in Gouache.Animal & Wildlife, Floral & Botanical, Watermedia
