Attalus I like Chinese Dragons no wings but the still get around, isn’t magic grand? Nice face on this one and yes you did do a lot of scales.

“It doesn’t even need wings to fly! Instead, it has a growth on the top of its head called the Poh Shan, which enables the dragon to soar through the air. Its body is said to be covered with 81 male scales and 36 female scales.” https://gbtimes.com/the-chinese-dragon-bringer-of-rain :wink2:

Thanks, Michelle, I sat at the dining room table doing them while Susie was watching television in the next room and thinking I was, too. :)

Christel, love the cowboy’s stance, he’s sexy walking his monitor so casually!

Susie, that is so so cute! I love the dragon’s bashfulness.

Dianna, the acrylic pour makes such a cool background! The chcarcoal glaze one is stunning. That worked out so so well!

Woody, your’s looks way better than the rubbery one from the movie. I remember that one bouncing along in the movie. Youv’e brought it to life!

Bill, so many scales! The coloring on this one is so beautiful too.

Pieter, there’s so much personality and humor going on in your sketches. Clever!!

Sorry I’m a day late with mine, we were under storm and tornado watches all day, didn’t have my big computer plugged in.

This one is a lino cut print on a brusho background, 5×7 inches. Brusho is a kind of watercolor powder, it’s really bright. I don’t think the photo does it justice. The bits and dabs of ink are intentional.

This one is a doodling eternal dragon, I’m going to put a poem on him when I’m done. I’m not done yet, I’m slowly filling this up as I watch TV. It’s just pen.

Virginia, very nice, but I have no idea what a lino print is.I keep thinking of the linoleum of my elementary school days. Cheers.

Thanks! I just keep remembering Susie sitting in the television room and laughing and then gazing at me, to see if I agreed with her. Of course I did!

                    Very nice work Virginia!

I looked it up Bill. According to wikipedia, “Linocut is a printmaking technique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum (sometimes mounted on a wooden block) is used for a relief surface.” So you weren’t far off lol.

Yup, that’s pretty much it. It’s a lino tile that I drew on then carved and printed almost like a stamp.

Christel, the doodling one is a regular piece of 11 x 8.5 printer paper, it’s just for practice.

Thanks for the lovely comments. :)

                        Virginia those are both great!
I like the idea of doing a lino cut like that but you have to think backward to do the cutout. I have enough trouble thinking forward!
It looks great and the splashes of color are fantastic!
Your “doodling” is more than that, I love the knot design and the face of the dragon. All the little creatures and details around it are amazing. I hope you will post again when you are finished with it I’m curious what you will do with it.

Good morning, all. I am at the stage with my ship where I try and make a correction, and screw it up and spend more than 5x the time getting it back where it was before I messed with it. :(
Virginia, love the dragon, very colorful.

How frustrating, Bill! Hope it settles down for you.

Dianna, I cheat and draw it normally then reverse it on the computer! Before computers, I used to use carbon paper to trace it onto the back of the drawing which gives you the reverse image. My mom did a lot of typing, she used to get so annoyed at us for taking all her carbon paper.

I dunno, Bill,I know it hacked you off and frustrated you (when I hear him cussing in the studio I stay out of there) but I like it better after the change better than before. The water certainly looks better. I would love it if somebody got into a discussion about the center mast height with you.

Virginia, love the “lino-cut” dragon. What beautiful colors. How do you decide where to put the ‘bits and dabs of ink?”
