We both grew up in smaller villages and then were on military bases where it’s pretty much mandatory to stop and help for any reason. We noticed in our first winter here that people don’t tend to stop. We were actually shocked by that and still am!
It’s funny, Colorado had less snow then Western and Northern NY and the area of Ontario I grew up in but our roads were way better in the winter because it’s a different kind of snow. It seems easier for the plows to clear it out properly.
Moving around so much you notice these things. There’s a hamburger place between Colorado and Manitou Springs that is the best hamburger I’ve ever had. It was so so good!

June 6, 2018 at 10:16 pm #633048Peach Pie is so good! I had a really good flat bread last night. They use a stone oven with real wood. It’s really good.
For toppings, I had my usual peameal bacon (Canadian bacon) pineapple and green olives, which is the only way to eat pizza.

The first pizza I ever ate in my life (1962) had pepperoni, green olives, and mushrooms. That’s still how I like them.

Thanks for asking. He’s doing well. The bruises are coming up so he’s colorful looking. The cast is really awkward.
It’s funny I can’t stand black olives but I love green ones.

Find me on FacebookJune 8, 2018 at 10:00 am #633063I don’t like any olives. That really seems to be something people love or hate.
My son is in the cheese pizza phase, it seems most kids are like that. He used to eat any kind but that changed somehow. My current favourite is ham, mushrooms, and green pepper. When I make pizza I make a lot and freeze slices for lunches. And I started using cookie sheets, the slices fit better into freezer bags then the wedge shaped ones.

Glad your son is better. Olives are funny. I think I was born liking green ones – my parents took us out on weekends to a little restaurant that served them as hors oeuvres, and I always ate all of them. It took me a while to appreciate black ones. I find the kalamata variety preserved in oil the best. Maybe it’s like fish. I loathe the things. Maybe some enzyme in the tastebuds responds to particular substances.

was shocked and saddened, but can’t say I was all that surprised. Was very sad to hear of his passing, and in such a way. I read Kitchen Confidential back in the day, and enjoyed a look into a world I had never imagined could be so scary and so entertaining.
I’ll have a glass of beer in memory of Anthony. (Hold the heroin, though. Any reader of Kitchen Confidential knows the man had demons.)

June 9, 2018 at 9:58 am #633064Tastes are funny. Why do we like some things and not others. Or just in certain ways. Like not liking cheese but liking mac and cheese. Or my husband who hates onions still likes onion rings.
lol Bill, my first dragon was going to have scales, then I change my mind. I guess if you want them you have try to get into a zen mode.

I judged it necessary for this particular composition, or I wouldn’t have bothered. :envy: When it popped into my mind, it was there, scales and all. It would look very bland without scales, I judge, since the rest is kinda misty

June 10, 2018 at 6:52 am #633113I’m working on a Wyvern…a type of dragon that I was introduced to in the special effects sequences of JACK THE GIANT KILLER back when I was a kid. I think it’s very unique and different from the standard dragon, so much so in fact that in England it wasn’t considered a “true” dragon by definition but in other European countries they classified the monster as a dragon, and that’s good enough for me. Some say it has a K-9 type head like that of a wolf or a jackal, with huge bat-like wings, a body and talons of a bird of prey and a long tail resembling a monstrous constrictor snake. It’s a lot of fun to paint and that’s all I care about.
