Does anyone know why Ruidoso was named like that? Is it a noisy place?

It means “Noisy River” – from the stream which winds through the area. Until quite recently, it was a quaint little racetrack town (Ruidoso Downs) when I lived there as a kid, but I think it has been “discovered”, with much new expansion happening. The growth will probably depend on water supply. I hate to see the changes.
