Here’s my quick attempt at something for this month. With an upcoming art show, I’ve got very little time for much else, but I do a bunch of 3×3 inch little mini-notecards with original sketches on them. They’ve always been popular, so I decided to try the elk. Drawn with ink on yellow card stock in around 5-10 minutes. Yes, her eyes are huge…I wasn’t going for anything too ornate with this. Wish I could take time to do more…maybe I’ll save some of the images for later.

July 11, 2018 at 6:50 pm #649005Thanks so much, Jo! These little mini-cards are usually good sellers. They’re my cheapest items, and I call them “Inklings” for two reasons – One, they’re like little ideas, and two, they’re like baby ink drawings. I’ve done so many I’ve lost count, and have just completed 64 of them in the last month or so for my next show. My favorite part of selling these little cards is seeing how many little kids love to buy them. So often, a 3- or 5-year-old will come over to me shyly, an Inkling in one hand, a dollar in the other. I think they’re excited to buy some art for themselves.
Thank you very much, Christel!
Thank you, CaliAnn! I really appreciate it!

Thanks so much, John! You sure can use this idea. I’m sure I didn’t invent it…it’s just an affordable item to sell at shows to those who’d rather not spend too much.

July 18, 2018 at 1:54 pm #649007I couldn’t resist taking some time to try my hand at that bull. He was fun to draw, all that muscle and power. Drawn in my mixed media sketchbook in ink. Measures around 6×8 inches I think. I worked on him for an hour or so and had a lot of fun!:) C&C welcome.

July 21, 2018 at 4:01 pm #649008Thank you, Christel.
Thanks for the comments, Kay. My version doesn’t look as intimidating or riled up as that great photo…what can I say? I tend to be a sucker for drawing a soulful eye…even on a mad bull.
Thanks very much, CaliAnn!
