January 29, 2012 at 8:36 pm #1153843Beautiful and very poetic, Nur!
Great color harmony from the flower to background. A real jewel asking about nice golden frame!January 29, 2012 at 11:12 pm #1153776Hi everyone, you’ve painted beautiful orchids and thank you for hosting Tatiana.
Mine started a week ago but I don’t know if I could finish it on time only one day left on this part of the world
January 30, 2012 at 8:51 am #1153795Maureen, try rubbing alcohol available from chemists, that’s usually isopropanol. Or there is surgical spirits which is a mix of ethanol and isopropanol. I’m sure that meths would also work.
Oops! Yes, I meant Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) not drinking alcohol.:D Should have been more clear instead of taking for granted that everyone knew what I meant.:o

You will end up with beautiful painting one way or another. This is what counts the most. But we still have one more day this month, perhaps we will get another entry… or two!

...............NurJanuary 31, 2012 at 9:44 am #1153777It’s done, my second Phalaenopsis and having the same problem, centre of the flower and negative space.
It’s acrylic on Blick Studio Canvas Pad size 9″x12″ which I like it.
First painted with red-brown yellow negative space but it was too plain (no photo taken)
so add some yellow and green like in the below photo and not like it
then cover again with white have to like it because there is no more time.
Both photos are indoor sorry for the glare.
Thank you for lookingJanuary 31, 2012 at 10:14 am #1153845Here we go – two more!
Beautiful painting, Dewi! The second version almost have a feeling of gold-leave being present on a background… however you did it – looks great. I always enjoyed combination of orchid paintings with gold-leave… do not have any of my own yet. I think You ARE done. It is good.January 31, 2012 at 4:47 pm #1153754Nur – that’s dramatic and gorgeous – be happy with it!
Dewi – glad you finished it – it’s lovely …. and I like the way the b/g turned out
Cheers, Maureen

I love the blue shadows on the flowers, the centre petals and the background too. I also laughed at your comment “that you had to like it as there was no more time left”. So glad you finished it.
Maureen – Looking forward to it – can’t wait!!!
