I was away for a week in Maui so I have new material to work with. I will miss 2019 because I probably won’t travel for a few years…. I still have 3000 reference pics to work with from Ireland but probably need to step away a bit and mix it up…:)
This is a small study of an Irish house south of Slieve League I was captivated with as I drove past it. It was flanked by the sea, mountains in the distance, and a river. The trees did not have any leaves on them and thought they looked interesting stark against all of that greenery….

I also like that softly rendered sky which does not compete with the action below.
Nicely Painted !Michael.

I'M NOT AS THINK AS YOU DRUNK I AMJanuary 2, 2020 at 10:11 am #927642There is a real sense of the peacefulness of this place, in your painting, Wes. My eyes are drawn down that path to the beautiful house, standing proud. Super sense of distance, and I love that sky. The bare trees add to the sense of remoteness and solitude. Great job, all round!

January 2, 2020 at 8:02 pm #927629Hi Wes I really like the way you use colour in your painting. Even though the building is a bright colour you have managed to keep it well into the distance which is not easy to achieve. I like the stillness in your work and this one has it too ….and what a sky!

Success is never found. Failure never fatal. Courage is the only thing.

I especially like the sky. Good subtle work with the clouds.

January 2, 2020 at 10:59 pm #927634Thanks so much Caroline. It means a lot to me since you know this island so well.
Thanks as well Gary. It indeed looked like a mansion and I was happy with the sky in this one as well.

I almost missed this beauty. Great composition that really draws me right in with that wonderful river gently moving my eye into the piece with the water glistening with subtle reflections.
Gorgeous work on that sky too and the wonderful stately home beautifully portrayed in your background work.
Overall just a superb composition.

January 4, 2020 at 11:04 am #927632This reminds me of the stark beauty of northern Scotland as well.
Everything else being equal, I would rather be in the painting zone.
